AGGIES ADD TO GOLDEN HAUL WITH 1,000-METER SWEEP
Pantoja lowered 1,000m school record to 2:51.46
LINCOLN, Neb. --- The Texas A&M track and field added two more gold medals to their second day haul with a sweep of the men's and women's 1,000-meter races here at the 2002 Big 12 Indoor Championships.
Sophomore Angeles Pantoja lowered her own school record to 2:51.46 while beating the field by more than 10 meters. Pantoja is coming off a foot injury that kept her out of the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2001.
In the men's race, junior Tommy Bonn charged from fourth place around the final curve and kicked to the victory down the stretch in a career-best time of 2:25.17.
