Good news from Baton Rouge. The Aggies beat the Tigers 4-2 Wednesday evening. It is always good to beat the Tigers, but a road win is even more impressive., LSU captured the doubles point, but the Aggies rallied in singles behind victories by Ryan at No. 1, Keith at No. 2, Ante at No. 4, and Khaled at No. 6. Lester Cook was beaten in three sets at No. 3, and Jesse Smatt and Jarin Skube was suspended at No. 5. The Aggies take on OU at 1:00 pm Saturday in our Big XII home opener.

Any road win against an SEC team is well earned and impressive.

can someone tell me why we keep dropping in the rankings? we have 4 wins over top 20 teams, and only 2 losses. it just doesn't make much sense to me

That loss to Rice is killing us in the rankings. I have to figure that if that was a win (our record would be 9-1), we'd probably be around 15 or so. 10 spots is awfully harsh for just one loss.

I really am not too worried about our ranking at this point in the season. We are a very young team, and hopefully our best tennis is ahead of us. If we take care of our business over the next month, the rankings will take care of themselves. At this point I am more concerned about Texas and Baylor than anything else. We must continue to work hard and improve in order to get things done in April and May.

Nice to see Keith is finding his form.

I was wondering if anyone can give me an update on how the team is playing. I have yet to make a match this year but I am going to try to make Saturday' match against OU.

I am particulary interested in how Cook, Matejvic, and Bauer are playing. Apparently the first two are playing quite well. What is wrong with From (if anything)? How has Newport acclimated to being a #1 this year?

I wish Tres Davis and Nathan Price were still on the team. That would have been an extremely deep and talented team.

These guys are all young but have really stepped up...Lester and Ante particularly so. As stated above, Keith seems to be coming around, and Ryan and Jared are both steady.

Now if they all played with the enthusiasm of that El Dorry (sp?) kid, that would be great. He's extremely fun to watch.

Yep, if Tres were still around, we'd be looking at an extremely loaded team for the next couple of years. He was an awsome talent.
