i predicted a georgia/texas final when the draw came out. texas has had another good run, but i think georgia wins it pretty easily. texas gets the doubles and maybe 4 or 5, but georgia wins 4-2.

And I love how some idiots on here were saying that our men should have beaten them

not sure we should have beaten them, but we could have.

Texas is good this year, obviously, but anyone can get beat at anytime in college tennis. That is shown in the big 12 alone, with texas losing to tech, then us beating tech. It all depends on the day.

It also shows just how close we are to being a top 10-15 type program again.

UVA has had one of top 3-4 teams the last 4-6 years, but has not been able to capitalize and turn into a title... they got a great recruiting class 5-6 years ago and have had some great players but came up short each time..

Don't follow tennis much, so forgive me if this is silly:

Do you have to matchup 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc?
Could you not throw your #4 vs their 1, and hope for a miracle, but then have the advantage with your 1 vs their 2, and so on down the line?

what criteria determines your #1?

once you set your lineup for the conference tournament/ Regional, it must stay the same until the final match, barring some injury, where everyone moves up one spot.

so if you get to set your line-up, why not set it to your advantage?

why is that wrong? unless there are specific criteria to determine #1, #2, etc, where is the cheating?

If your #3 guy keeps losing, over and over, bad, and you dont switch them to a lower position, other teams can protest your lineup.

Baylor a few years back had interchangable 1-4 guys. But no one could protest them during the year, because they were that good. If you have your #3 guy all of a sudden play #6, you will get called out on it.

Of course, there are always coaches that say "Well, my #1 guy (who cant win a match) always beats my #2 guy (who never loses)." Its almost more ethical than anything.

Good showing for the Big 12 this season in the tournament. We need step it up and join Baylor and Texas next year.
