Yes, women's 4x4 dropped the stick but they will very likely get through and score at NCAA's; the women may have a decent shot at winning this year

For any that don't know how it works with the National Championship Meet:

From the Regional Championship Meets (there are 4 regions) Top 5 in individual events and Top 3 in relays automatically qualify for Championships, which leave around 6-10 at large selections in each event. You have to make at least the top 12 at Regionals to be considered for an at large spot in your event.

A&M Tracksters with a good shot at an at large bid.

This list does not include our runners who have automatically qualified, just people with a shot at an At-Large Bid:

All results listed are updated as of 5/18 so there will undoubtedly be some shifting in overall rankings that I've listed.

Women

100M

Allison George 6th at Regionals (15th in NCAA = good shot at qualifying with at large)

Khrystal Carter 7th at Regionals (25th in NCAA = slim shot at qualifying with at large)

200M

Khrystal Carter 9th at Regionals (30th in NCAA = slim shot at qualifying with at large)

4X400M Relay

A&M Women 10th at Regionals (5th in NCAA = virtual lock at qualifying with at large)

Javelin

Emalie Humphreys 6th at Regionals (16th in NCAA = pretty good shot at qualifying with at large)

Hillary Putska 7th at Regionals (20th in NCAA = decent shot at qualifying with at large)

Laura Asimakas 8th at Regionals (15th in NCAA = pretty good shot at qualifying with at large)

Men

100M

Gerald Phiri 8th at Regionals (5th in NCAA = virtual lock at qualifying with at large)

Dominique Stafford 9th at Regionals (24th in NCAA = slim shot at qualifying with at large)

200M

Gerald Phiri 8th at Regionals (2nd in the NCAA = virutal lock at qualifying with at large)

400M

Bryan Miller 7th at Regionals (18th in the NCAA = decent shot at qualifying with at large)

A.C. Robinson 10th at Regionals (19th in the NCAA = decent shot at qualifying with at large)

3000M Steeplechase

Kevin McNab 6th at Regionals (21st in the NCAA = decent shot at qualifying with at large)

Triple Jump

Melvin Echard 6th at Regionals (20th in the NCAA = decent shot at qualifying with at large)

I think we will win the Women's NC and have a good (top 3) finish in the Men's.

LSU is going to be tough to beat on the women's side... they have a projected 65 pts (we have a projected 60 pts) and a few more strong contenders outside of the top 8 in their events. Things will have to go our way, but it's definitely possible. Arizona State has a projected 48 pts. I think we will finish top 3 as long as we do what we're supposed to do and if we can have a few people step up we could take the Championship.

On the men's side we should definitely end up top 5 and have a great shot at top 3. Our main competition again will be LSU, just like the women. Our top performers (our sprinters) compete directly against a lot of their top performers. Depending on the way everything shakes out I would say there is a chance at National Championship on the men's side too, but not as likely as on the women's side.

We have more players than LSU in the women's meet. I hope we win it. Best of luck to the girls!
