It's amazing how he has the ability to step up his game when he needs to at a major, whether it be a a wild hook to to get a tree and on the green or just an adjusted shot that he can work around his bum knee. He was in serious pain in the last third of that round. Tough to watch, but impossible to turn it off. Five shots back with six to play and his knee shoots pain up his leg when he swings... Now he has a one stroke lead going into Sunday's round. Wow!

When asked at tonights press conference "is this the way the knee is going to be forever, or do you know?", Tiger responded with a simple "I know". This latest surgery was the third on the same knee. It has not responded well. I am afraid we will not be watching Tiger Woods play for much longer. This in fact could be his last hurrah. If it is, he needs to go out on top, with all due respect to Rocco who has also battled adversity.

Ben Hogan played a while longer and often competitively after recovering from his car crash. They were saying he had to wake up 3 hours before a round to soak in a tub before playing and even then it was painful. Probably cost him some wins, but he was still competitive.

Tiger's so d*mn good I think he'll find a way to compensate even if his knee doesn't come all the way back and probably end up with more majors than Nicholas.

with all the sports being broadcast online lately, any chance Tiger/Rocco will be broadcast online?

I think Tiger is tough enough to successfully fight through it for a number of years to come, but where I think the biggest impact will made is when he's in his 40's. I think that is when things will finally hit somewhat of a breaking point, and it will really bring down his game and possibly keep him from playing much at all. The knee is getting worse and worse, and the body becomes much less resiliant once a guy passes his mid-30's.

He's so talented that he still could have been head and shoulders above the field throughout his 40's, and I thought he'd spend his 40's completely shattering Jack's major record. I still think he'll break it, but we may not see the total shattering I've been anticipating. I think he'll get the record, probably before he hits 40, but then with the record + the pain in the knee, he'll really dial things way back.

Are you in fact saying that Tiger will be in this kind of pain for the rest of his career? I find that nearly impossible, if not impossible, to believe. How dissapointing that would be for him to fizzle out at only 32.
