The wait is over for Christine Marshall (Newport News, Va.) and Texas A&M. Marshall has officially become the Aggies’ first-ever United States Olympian in the sport of swimming. On Saturday night, the number of athletes to qualify for the U.S. team in multiple events reached a high enough number that all allowable relay legs (top six in the 100 and 200 freestyle) have been granted a spot on the American team.

I am both surprised and disappointed that there are not a bazillion posts here congratulating the outstanding performance of our first swimming olympian.

So, Christine, congratulations a bazillion times over!

Congratulations and good luck in August! So very cool - this says a lot about Bultman and the entire swim program here for there to be so many Ags swimming (and swimming well) at Trials! Not to mention the non-U.S. swimmers as well! Gig'em!

The news happened over the 4th of July weekend. As a swimming regular here - I was watching the Trials when I could. So I will add my congrats to Christine and the other Aggies who swam at the Trials.

Kristen Heiss of course was close to Beijing - finishing 5th in 200 back. And Emily Neal made it to semis.

Ozzie was close to semis with an excellent 50 free time.

Tyler Welch moved up, finishing 62nd, and swam a best time in 100 fly. Pretty damn good for a walkon from 4A Lake Travis high school.
