Why is the Montreal team sometimes called the Habs? Just curious. Thanks.

I'm probably wrong on this, but I seem to remember that "Habs" is short for the French pronounciation of "Canadiens", i.e. Les Habitants ( sp ? ). It's one of those mysteries to us in the South, kind of like throwing an octupus on the ice in Detroit. I think that has something to do with the Red Wings being one of the original 8 teams in the NHL.
Either way, the NHL playoffs are freakin' great.
