why don't the run track/field in the mornings like they did swimming? This blows knowing who wins before I watch.

I'm guessing its all about ratings. I keep telling myself that I can't get interested when I know the results, but i keep watching it at night anyway, and NBC knows people will watch it then. Also, maybe because it conflicts with normal programming like the Today show, which would be lame.

Probably because the world doesn't always revolve around American television schedules.

Ratings. Swimming (esp with Phelps) and gymnastics are probably the two highest rated Olympic sports in the USA, so the IOC was willing to adjust the schedule for NBC. Track and Field is probably more of a worldwide interest, so the US is not going to dictate the times on those. Track, being outdoors, is also probably presented better at night, so that's not going to mesh with US primetime.

Sucks the next Olympics is in London...no way to really broadcast events live from there (during weekday primetime anyway).
