I hope he does well and I hope that the match is televised. I also hope that Austin is smart enough to stick around a while and not pull a Lester Cook and go messing around on the tour.

I can assure you that Austin has got everything under control. He is looking forward to a great year.

He's playing Agustin Calleri in the first round. The winner of that would more than likely play Davydenko.

Calleri is ranked 49 in the world and has been ranked as high as 16. Tough match for Austin but better than getting Nadal first round. Great experience for him and great exposure for the Aggie tennis program.

They only have times listed so far on the 1st 2 days. I didn't see him on either day 1 or 2, so must be sometime Wednesday.

Well just getting there was the accomplishment. Hope he enjoyed the experience and learned from it.

not a terribly surprising result, but definitely a good effort. calleri has been in the top 20 and is a legit player on hard courts. very good experience for austin and he definitely did himself, his team, and his school very proud.

On a positive note, this will make playing against Baylor seem a lot easier by comparison.

I saw the match live and in person. Should be a good learning experience.The gap between a top 50 player in the world and a good college player is huge. He won't face any player at the college level that will even remotely be close to who he played at The Open. I don't think Austin will follow the footsteps of Lester Cook and De La Mesa and leave college early to join the tour after this match. At least I'd hope not.

or follow tres davis. De Mesa never amounted to anything, and Lester is grinding it out. I highly doubt Austin leaves here before his senior year. He needs to stick around and get some more experience. I am looking forward to some big things from this team in the next couple years. I think Denton and McKinley are going to come through.

I agree with you on Denton and McKinley. They were both there. I imagine they were going to do some recruiting in addition to coaching Austin.
