Or soccer in general, I guess...

In the A&M boxscore there are entries for "Shots" and "Shots on goal". What is the difference between those two? Aren't "shots" the shots you take at the goal? I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I've been wondering this for a while.

"Shots" include any attempt you make at scoring. A shot that flies way over the bar would fall into this category, as would a shot that goes in.

"SOG" include any ball that goes in or forces the keeper to make a save.

If it's on frame, then it counts as a SOG. Please direct future Soccer questions to the Soccer Forum as we are currently trying to overtake the "Other Sports" forum by having more posts.
