The W/T got put into tu's host bracket in Austin. That really sucks since they just played them in the Big 12 tournament and lost 5-0. They put all four teams from Texas into tu's bracket, probably to keep down travel expenses and time away from home during finals. But they could have put A&M in a bracket with ORU or anywhere but tu!! Or finals and graduation will be over by the time the first round is played. Once again the NCAA gives tu the advantage with a host site and three teams that they have already played and beaten.

Before you get too upset I would like to remind you that the aggie men probably got the best draw of the day. They get to play tcu or lsu. Either way they are teams that are ranked in the low 30s and they are teams that the aggies have already beaten on the road. Pretty good draw a near guarrantee to get home for the round of 16. So please consider this before you complain. It doesnt hurt to have your coach on the selection committee either. I know he had nothing to do with the draw cause he was out of the room but the influence is there. As the 15th seed Texas has to play the winner of SMU and VCU. And VCU is a very tough team with only four losses and ranked #21. SMU is a team we beat 4-3 early in the season and they have improved and are ranked in the mid 20s. Seems odd that as the 15th seed Texas would have to play better ranked teams than the 16th seed. Oh well who knows whats cookin in the back rooms of the power brokers of college tennis. One thing is for sure, playin at home is better than on the road and overall I am pleased with the Texas draw. To advance you have to win..plain and simple.

Rocket: How about those Baylor Bears. Number six seed and have to travel. I know they are playing in a fairly easy group, but still you would think they should have been a lock to host. Why would you travel number six and leave fifteen and sixteen at home.........oh, I guess I might have an idea. In any event, I don't think the Aggies or Texas should have any complaints about the way things turned out. Both will have to play well to win their regionals, but playing at home should help both schools. If everything plays out we would get number one Georgia on Saturday afternoon at four, which would be one heck of a way to start the tournament round of sixteen. It should be a lot of fun. Lets hope we both make it.

The Aggie men got a great draw. Texas has nothing to complain about either - a very winnable region for them. The bears got the shaft. But their players are used to traveling great distances. They are used to playing at foreign places they've never heard of against schools that they probably don't know exist.
As far as the Aggie woman go, they are a long way from a top 16 team and it is unlikely they would advance out of any region. It leaast they're close enough to go watch and support.

Raven I agree on bu. However they did reward them with a very easy draw with only harvard in the way to the round of 16. I know you might disagree with me on this but I think you guys got the second easiest draw of the tournament. I also think that the ncaa learned a lesson in 2000 when uga failed to make the tournament. I have been to athens many years and without the dogs the tourney was a flop. Very low attendence and overall not a big success. I can see that atm needs to be in the round of 16 for the championships to be a success and I dont really have a problem with it. TCU is barly a 500 team and lsu has a losing record. You guys will advance with ease. I am very concerned with smu and vcu but we are at home and that makes a difference.Good luck and hope to be back in brazos vally in 2 weeks/...

Rocket: When we played on Saturday, most of us thought that the winner would host a regional. I believed that Duke would drop out because of their schedule and the fact that both of us had wins against them. The real question was whether you would be fifteen or we would be. I think the Texas Cup came into play, and I don't have a problem with that. I don't know what they are saying on the Baylor boards, but it is obvious that the committee was sending a message about their program. I was not sure, going in, that they would send that strong of a message, but they decided to do it, and the folks in Waco would have to be stupid (and I searched for a long time for the correct word and I am not still sure that I found it) to not understand what the committee was saying. Based on the brackets, I would certainly be proud to play Texas again this year.
