Saw this info on Baylorfans.com Educate yourselves, Aggies. If any of you heard Baylor Athletic Director Tom Stanton on 1660 yesterday then you know all this griping about Baylor's players is pure SOUR GRAPES. He dispelled some of the myths being floated around:

Myth #1 - Baylor has 23 year old freshman on the team. WRONG We have never had a 23 year old freshman on the team. We haven't even had a 22 or 21 year old freshman. We have some 20 year olds as freshman BECAUSE German schools have an extra year AND students are required to do a year of civil service after school.

Myth #2 - Our players are playing in professional tournaments and are therefore not really amateurs. WRONG Anybody remember that kid named Tiger Woods? These kids are GOOD, and so they EARN the right to play in these professional tournaments as AMATEURS.

Myth #3 - Baylor is playing loose and fast with recruiting rules. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG This is pure B.S. Baylor is playing by the same rules that everybody else, including aTm and Texas, are playing by. Dangling participles not withstanding, the Bears are just doing it better. The one extremely minor incident had to do with a potential recruit who stayed with a player and it was SELF-REPORTED by KNOLL. The NCAA was pleased with our promptness, forthrightness, and SELF-IMPOSED SANCTIONS. This is purely a case of Texas and aTm having to play better Baylor teams and not liking it.

I sure hope the ags manage to get past Georgia in the first round. I would love to see those Aggie knees quivering as they try to stay on the same court as the fighting Baylor Bears.

Tennisgate continues.

May 7, 2002
WACO, Texas

Sources report that letters of complaint have flooded the NCAA offices and email inboxes. Committee chair Betty Werner of Loyola-Marymount said to be looking into selection errors.

Baylor AD Tom Stanton taking the committee's decision up the NCAA heirarchy, pledging not to stop until reparations are made.

Meanwhile, Aggies resort to tired Baptist jokes and typical Baylor put downs to make themselves feel better. One Ag goes so far as to call Baylor's tennis program "second rate" only to realize that his team got blistered twice by that "second rate" program.

The so called "dark lord" of Big XII tennis presses on, working towards the signing of another German player who is rumored to be better than current #1 player Benjamin Becker. Teasips and Ags everywhere simply shake their heads to despair.

For the record, you guys wanna complain about Baylor having foreign players. Baylor does, 6 in fact.

However, your Ags have 3 and Texas has 4, so don't act like Baylor is doing anything that everyone else isn't. Logically and factually is doesn't hold water.

Hey, all smack aside, please pass the information I posted along to your fellow posters so that you Aggies can stop believing you are getting beat by a competitor who is abusing the system, and start trying to figure out a way to beat this guy.

11, am I going to have to talk to your 7th grade English teacher. You are embarrassing her again. First, there is no grammatical example that you can find that ends with ".." Secondly, there are no such things as junior colleges that offer four year degrees, masters degrees and doctoral degrees. Third, there is no tier system for junior colleges. Fourth, "ass" only contains the letter s twice. You should have a period after 16 and "its" should be capitalized.

Are you sure your junior high isn't tier II?

Aggie 11 - One day you are going to figure out that intelligent debate is more rewarding than pissing contests. When you do, you'll discover that Baylor, like aTm, is a fine academic school with a fine athletic program. I know it's hard to believe, but the Aggies have had a stretch of seasons similar to what Baylor football is going through before, as well. If you want to start comparing sports other than football, you're gonna be disappointed in the results, I'm afraid.

Here's another quote from Baylor's AD:

"Unsere Tennismannschaft betrügt nicht. Es ist gerades whining von anderen Trainern. Sie betrogen uns vom Erhalten eines regionalen Angebots."

And from Baylor's tennis coach:

"Wir betrügen nicht. Andere Mannschaften, besonders Texas A&M, sind sie sind nicht Baylor gerade eifersuechtig."

Where are the 23 year old freshman? Where are the 22 year old freshman. 21 year old freshman?

Benjamin Becker Fr.-HS Orscholz, Germany (Gymnasium Stefansberg) Birthdate: 06/16/1981

When are the Aggies going to call a rose a rose with Cass. He’s mad because he’s getting beat, not because the playing field isn’t level.

Remember what happened in the Major League? Birth certificates from foreign countries are easily altered. Just something to think about. Plus, where are all these foreign players getting the money to attend a private school in the United State and living on 3 scholarships?

Just a few more items to throw into the mix.

Nice stats on age...how about someone posting career earning on the European tour.
JudgeBaylor
How long do you want to ignore this user?
BBRex - your post is classic!

Sherlock - you're suggesting Danny Almonte type tampering? And, as for European tour earnings, they would all be zero since they played as amatuers.

But, if you want to investigate foreign players, don't forget the three that play for A&M and the four that play for Texas.

You bears kill me w/ your continued mentioning of our 3 foreign players. Truth is that one of those went to high school in Texas (Khaled) and another has only played sparingly for us (a senior transfer from Kansas).

At least when you look at our top 6, you see some American players.

#1: Ryan Newport - Cypress, TX
#2: Keith From - Tallahassee, FL
#3: Lester Cook - Sherman Oaks, CA
#4: Ante Matijevic - our one true foreign player
#5: Jarin Skube - Edmond, OK
#6: Khaled El Dorry - from Egypt, but went to high school in New Braunfels, TX

That's pretty different from Baylor's top 6...3 guys from Germany, 1 from Argentina, 1 from Hungary, and 1 from Australia (and another that plays 6 sometimes - a guy from a California-Mexico border town).

You aggies are pathetic. Pick a myth and stick to it. Nobody is saying we don't have foreign players, you moron. They are legal, and they are recruited by every other top ten school in the U.S.

It's amazing. Every time one of you Ags are confronted with the truth, you can't take it and morph to another lie. I know the brainwashing machine at aTm is strong, but give me a break.

You aren't as good. So your coach teamed up with the Tulsa coach and screwed us. Don't blame our coach if he is outworking yours. GET A NEW COACH.
Sir Edmund Bearke
How long do you want to ignore this user?
BBBRex, that was pretty damn funny. Not as funny as the twisting of the truth you Ags have to do to make yourself feel better about getting beat by little ole BU, but still pretty damn funny.
Sherlock
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ahh...you gotta love those Bears. First off, nobody, not coach Cass, not Tulsa, NOBODY screwed Baylor out of a regional.

First off, you are the 6th seeded team with an easy draw all the way to the final 4. We are the 16th seed and will have to face #1 Georgia if we make it thru the weekend.

Of those 16 seeds, only 2, Baylor and USC are not hosting....meaning there were too many teams in the region already hosting and someone had to travel. IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANYONE, but when the regions were draw up, Baylor and USC were the odd men out, so to speak.

Again, look at the bracket and quit complaining. Baylor has a very easy draw all the way to the final 4. You should win your regional without any problem. You could let your one American play and still win! In the round of 16, you should beat USC, and you should beat Illinois in the round of 8. If you make it that far, you will face 2nd seed Tennessee and that should be a good match to watch.

Here is another thing to consider.....look at the people on the selection committee and find out how many actually like coach Knoll. I know a number of tennis coaches around the country and they all have the same bad things to say about Knoll. They either don't like him or don't like the way he runs his program or both. This is not just heresay, this is fact. Sorry.

I'll admit, I'm surprised Baylor didn't get a host site, but I'm not totally shocked. It was kinda expected. Again....sorry.

Quit cryin', take care of your business on the courts, and if you win it all, congradulations. If you don't win it all, don't be a sore loser and start claiming a big Baylor conspiracy.

By the way, BaylorJUDGE, I check out your guys on the ATP web site and career earnings are now a mute point. 3 BU players are listed, but none of them have any substantial earnings. Most of their earnings are in gift certificates and other tennis related gear that are all perfectly LEGAL under NCAA rules....I checked those too. I will now apoligize for that remark. Sorry.

That is heresay at its finest. Name these tennis coaches and then we can move this out of the heresay column.

Sherlock - Your logic is terrible. You say that someone had to be the odd man out, and it was Baylor. If Baylor, aTm, and Texas were all ranked together (say 14,15,16), then this would make sense. However, since the rankings are actually (#6, 15, and 16) who do you think should "get left out"?

Stop making excuses. We earned the right to host and got screwed by Cass and Tulsa boy. It must be painful to admit.
Sherlock
How long do you want to ignore this user?
NO Sir Eddie, you don't need names....that's not necessary. It's true, face it.

And you BUchumps, there are 14 members to the selection committee and each has a vote as to the seeds and who hosts. If each member has one vote, than that means Cass and the Tulsa coach had one vote each....which adds up to 2....following me so far? So how do these 2 votes beat the other 12? I guess in Waco, 2 is more than 12.....but in most places it's not. Go to ncaa.org and look for yourself at the committee members.
buchamps
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No ****, sherlock. Do you think they put each member in a cubicle and tell him to place his picks on a ScanTron? It's called politics, Einstein. I find it hard to believe that someone who actually made it in to aTm is this dense.

buchamps,
It looks like you need to get your coach to play better politics instead of coming over to an A&M BBS and start crying and b*tching like little girls. This is TENNIS for crying out loud!! And it is ONLY TWO MATCHES. Everywhere you go you have to play politics(work, school, organizations, life, etc..) it seems like your coach pissed off alot of people maybe he should figure out why.

First time I venture off the Rivalries board and it has been so worth it. You guys are hilarious. Ags crying about this and that is typical, but about TENNIS??? Who the heck cares? I give props to Baylor for having the best program in the Big 12. Why can't you Ags just admit that they're better than you at Tennis? They beat us, they beat y'all, and they got screwed. They have a right to complain. Get over yourselves Ags.
Sherlock
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I not gonna say politics had nothing to do with the decision...we are hosting the NCAA's...so we had that going for us. If it is all political like you say, than our guy is MUCH better at it than yours.

Enough has been said about this. Close the thread and QUIT COMPLAINING. You won the Big 12 regular season and tournament. Why are you whining? Just take care of your business and you'll probably have home court advantage after the first round, provided A&M and Texas get knocked out earlier than Baylor.

Do the facilities have anything to do with the selection of the sites? I know it does in baseball. Could that have been the deciding element here?
