Amen brother...That guy is a total idiot. He means well but man he has got to shut up!!!! I know who he his, I saw him when I was sitting down in the stadium club seats. This guy as well as other older people down there do not know tennis very well. They make stupid comments much worse than this guy and they think their funny. So here is some adivce to you older fans in the stadium club cheer you own team on other than that keep your mouth closed!!!!!

This you da man stuff has gotten irrating to most of the fans and my guess is that it is starting to bother the players, particularly those playing on court l. It is good to pump up the players, but this is getting old. Any idea how to stop it without a direct confrontation?? Does anyone know this guy well enough to talk to him privately?

AG11: If making stupid comments or embarrassing yourself were a crime, you'd be doing serious time in Huntsville...need I refer to your asinine comments about Waco last week?

I've attended almost every match this year, sitting in the stadium club, and I must say that the older guy who started yelling "footfault" at Jean Simon during the Texas match at the Big-12's is the only example of inappropriate behavior I've witnessed. (I was out of town for the regionals, so I can't comment on the goings-on last weekend)

Yes, that guy is annoying, and I question his familiarity with tennis etiquette. But I assure you, AG11, that many of those "older people" down at courtside have played plenty tennis, know full well how to behave at a competitive collegiate tennis match, and in one instance paid for the facilities you were enjoying on those occasions when you were down there.

AG11, I see an inclination on your part to speak before you know what of you speak. I assume you're a young person, having used such intelligent, hip terms as "beeotch" in another post, so I shouldn't be too hard on you...but you've really got to work on this tendency of yours to go off half-cocked (that's a term us old-folks use from time to time meaning unprepared or uninformed).

As for what to do with our friend the "you da man" guy...perhaps one of the sports information folks (Nicole?) could say something to him.

I will be at the match. Someone point him out for me or I will figure out who is doing it and politely say "You tha man? Pleases stop saying, you tha man, OK?" He will say ok, then I will say, "You tha man" with a smile.

I don't think it bothers the players nearly as much as it bothers the fans in the general area. I can assure you that if it starts to bother the players, Coach Cass will speak with him.

By our count, the Aggie players were "da man" at least 99 times during singles ALONE on Sunday. Thank goodness we won it 4-0 or the count would have been much higher.

The gentleman has been coming to tennis matches for a while, but just recently started using his new catch phase during the Big 12 tourney. My guess is his TV got stuck on "The Fresh Prince" or MTV or something else he doesn't normally watch and leaned his new lingo from that.

If anyone does call him out, please be polite about it. He means well.

Hey Aglocal88 I sat in the stadium club on sat I couldn't have been more embarrassed. These old people were making such foolish comments I wanted to yell and tell them to shut up. For instance, Southern #1 was trying his heart and instead of applauding his effort he got heckled by "intelligent tennis fans". There was no way he was going to win so why was there need for heckling. Also, cheering really loud when lesters opponent double faulted. That is just in poor taste, and that is what mainly goes on down there bunch of old country club idiots thinking they know something about tennis. Well local I will leave you to wallow with your brethen down in the stadium club. While I will sit in the cheap seats with the real aggie tennis fans.

p.s. This is the internet I don't care how I look on here but in real life that is different get it Localag88

This post should not be about Aggies calling Aggies out. Fans act differently at sporting events and some things annoy people--that is what this post is about. I really enjoy watching Aggie tennis and hope that others do also. I am, however annoyed at the da'man stuff.. I have no reason to believe that the fan yelling this is not a die-hard Aggie fan--I just wish he would yell something else for a change. I also agree that some of our folks do not show good tennis etiquette and this is not what we want visitors to take home---Tim Cass tells the fans to support our team but not talk to the other players--he wants a Class program and we should support him. Let's turn this around Ags--and let's do it without turning on each other.

"Truth hurts uh?" (sic) Only when there's truth involved, which in the case of your posts, well,
I don't know where to start...probably not worth the effort.

Well said Videoman...let's get out there help the Ags whoop up on Georgia!

Since my post of 10 days ago, I have come to rely on Mr. "You Dah Man!". His irritating participation has become our trademark. He affects the other players greatly. He let us down today by not being there when we needed him for Ryan's singles match. Everything just seemed out of sync without hearing a blast of "Way to Go" or "You Dah Man".

Well, he showed up for doubles and it didn't help any, so there goes that theory.

...I will add, though, that he seemed to tone it down from the day before, and it was a lot more bearable.

...or maybe there just wasn't as much to yell about...I don't know.
