Haven't seen anything on this board regarding Jeff's great finish Sunday at Bethpage Black where he turned in a real workmanlike 2 over 72, to finish alone in 3rd place and pick up $362000

Had he not shanked that bunker shot early in the round which resulted in a double-bogey and made a couple more putts down the stretch, he could have been neck and neck with Tiger.

But that's golf...very prone to the "what if" analysis.

Historical note on Jeff and Tiger. They faced each other head to head in the 1999 WGC Accenture Match Play Championship...Which Jeff won and then went on to win the tourney and a Million $ Prize.
At the time...the biggest single tourney prize ever. Also gave Jeff a tour exemption thru 2002.
I think this 3rd place U S Open finish carries an exemption for all the Majors next year.
