into the quarters of singles today. 3 ags still alive in the main (pollock, spencer, krajicek). the rest of the field includes 2 owls (rosa, muller), 1 horn (sajous, a transfer), 1 bear (rux), and 1 raider (carvalho, a freshman).

wil is one of the hottest players in the country right now. conor made quarters of the all-american. krajicek just made quarters of a future. marcus lunt is back from his mission trip and is picking up right where he left off and could factor into the doubles. if the coaches can land 1 or 2 good freshmen in the next 2 weeks, this team will be legit top 10 (or higher) contenders.

there are a couple that are pretty much common knowledge. alex llompart (current #12 on TR.net) had it between a&m and pepperdine, and the ags missed out by a very narrow margin. jarmere jenkins (current #3 on TR.net) has been an a&m lean for several months now (with georgia a very close second), but he probably won't enroll at either school until next fall.

there are 3 other guys who are all top 10 recruits that have a&m in their top 1 or 2. i will wait until we get closer to signing day to mention any names because there are a lot of big time schools still scrambling and i don't want to tip anyone off.

as for current players, the ags had another big day yesterday.

carvalho (tech's #1) beat rux (baylor's #3 or 4) -1, 3 and 1
rosa (rice's #1) beat krajicek 6 and 1

semis
conor beat wil 5 and 6
rosa beat carvalho 4 and 2

that match between conor and rosa should be intense. wish i could be there to see it.

in the doubles, austin and conor were clearly the class of the tournament. in the final 3 rounds they took out texas' 3 best teams (given the absence of damico).

8-5 over kane-west/sajous in the quarters
8-5 over corrie/wiegand in the semis
4-6, 6-2, 10-8 over kutrovsky/zavala in the finals

conor won 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

i had a feeling it would be a battle. conor was down 1-4 serving in the third. to pull a match out of the fire like that against a guy like rosa is huge.

Camden - any updates on recruiting?

haven't heard anything new. signing day is november 12, and hopefully the ags will be picking up a blue chip or two. college tennis is a little different than other sports though, and if a guy doesn't commit during early signing it really doesn't mean a whole lot.

We will know soon. We are fishing in very tough waters, meaning the guys we are looking at are being recruited by the best programs in the nation. This is obviously where we want to be, and I will be very suprised if we don't add some real quality in the near term.
