In response to the other poster asking about a coaching change, I would think almost certainly there would be a change if this team does not make the NCAA's. Even if they do make it and lose in the first round, I think byrne would still be weighing his options as he has higher expectations for this team. If a change is to be made, I would think Mike Jordan at NMSU would have to be one of the top candidates. He's done well with some texas kids and is familiar with the area. Other than that i'm not sure, but byrne always seems to have plans in order.

Which I'd agree with. Also, turning off caps lock is the cool thing to do.

Good grief. This is the appropriate place for this discussion. And given our performance over the past few years there is absolutely nothing inappropriate about this sort of speculation and/or discussion.

Personally, I believe a change is needed. Nothing against the current coaches personally. I believe they're good people and have done some good things at A&M. But we're supposed to be "Building Champions". And Texas A&M hasn't fielded a championship quality volleyball team in some time now.

the answer may be dependent on how good the recruiting class is? Supposedly very good, but I don't know enough about it to offer an opinion

The program is in dire need of new leadership. Just making the NCAA's should not be enough to think that we are where we should be. Being one of the "top 64" should not be considered the same as "Building Champions". The recruiting has been mismanaged for years and the current signees will not do any more than continue the status quo of barely cracking 4th or 5th place in the conference instead of even attempting to compete for the conference championship.

If improvement is what is desired in this program, it is going to take new leadership to do so.

i trust bill byrne to find a good replacement... he did hire an excellent coach in john cook at nebraska

Cook was the handpicked replacement of Terry Pettit who build the Nebraska program. Bill had little to do with Cook's hire.

Plus any volleyball coach would jump at an offer from Nebraska (a perennial top 10 team). A&M will be a tougher sell.

Gig'em!
