I'm in the market for a handgun and was wondering if any of you had transacted with a pawn shop? If so, do you feel you got a deal? If not, why did you avoid it?

Do your homework and know the ballpark price of the guns you are looking for before you ever enter the store.

You might want to post this on the outdoor board. Lots of gun talk over there.

Mike, I managed a shop for a while, and it's really no different than any other second hand retailer. Some shops have good deals while others don't. Our shop had just as good of prices as champion firearms, others drastically over price their guns. Pawn shop guns are almost always negotiable however.

Go to Gunbroker.com to get an idea of what certain guns are going for and decide from there. Good luck.

+1 on Tomball pawn. I bought 2 NEW shotgun there several years ago. They had prices better than any other gun store (and gun show)that I could find in North Houston. However, I don't have any experience with them in used guns. Because of my experience in my other purchases, I would trust them though.
