I hear that they are about to lay down the new grass turf on the soccer field. Right now, it's an all sand surface. Hope it's ready for the season. I think the team begins preseason practices pretty soon.

From what I have heard, the soccer team ought to be really good (again) this year. Hope the Ags have a field to play on!

I think we need to upgrade all playing fields for all sports at A&M. Soccer as an NCAA championship sport deserves same status as the men's teams, and should have their pitch ready for the season. Name recognition for our great university is implanted in the minds of all women's soccer players and fans when we compete on the national scene. Same for all sports , be it NCAA or Club sanctioned.

Do you remember last year when North Carolina was coming to town, and the game got rained out?

The clay subsoil prevented the field from draining, so it stayed flooded, even after the rain stopped. The current work should remedy that problem (and be complete in time for the season).

I understand they put down a foot or so of sand under the turf. Now the field should drain quicker after a rain and be playable faster.

This is a part of upgrading facilities for many of the "minor" sports. Congrats to A&M for taking care of business.

NCAA Soccer National championships will be in Austin this year. Wouldn't it be great to take it all on the 'sips turf?

That would be very gratifying to see the soccer team win the National Championship in Austin.

It would be very sweet to see the Ags win it all in Austin. I will be there with my daughter, future soccer playing Ag, class of 2015! Hope like heck that the Ags are there as well!
