Still having trouble getting used to tennis challenges.

I was just watching a match and Tsonga hits a serve right down the middle, it was called out, Verdasco doesn't try and return it. Tsonga challenges, the ball was found to be in and he got credit for the ace. Did Verdasco get screwed? I mean I wouldn't try and return it either if it was called out.

tsonga's first serve approaches 130mph plus. at the pro level, and even in men's college and elite junior tennis, there is no time to wait and see if the serve is good (in) to decide if you're gonna return it. if you do that, you're gonna get aced a lot.

also, on the tour, you don't call the lines, the linespeople do, and the chair umpire overrules when necessary. so verdasco isn't really concentrating on the lines anyway. he assumes that if the ball is out it will be called out, so he is just going for every return he can get a racquet on. if he didn't even attempt to return it, he was either expecting a wide serve and got caught leaning, or the serve was just too good.
