Neither Shadrack Songok nor Jeneba Tarmoh ran in New York. Does Jeneba have to sit out a year after transferring from Tennessee? There are only four weeks left in the season. The Big 12 meet is in two weeks.
Maybe Jeneba is sitting out a year so that she and Vashti can have the same number of eligibility years left after this year - three.
Vashti had a great long jump today – the best by a female Aggie this season. Her jump of 6.32 meters is only 0.03 m off the automatic qualifying time.
Several great accomplishments by the Ags. Hope they enjoy their stay in New York.

I saw a bunch of athletes outside when I passed by the Armory on my way back from my weekly long ride up the Hudson (The Armory is just south of the George Washington bridge). Later in the day I saw a guy wearing Baylor Track gear running in central park. I was wondering if there was a meet going on, and I guess there was.

The men also have a new runner, Tran Howell. He ran a 21.47 which is pretty good indoors for your first run. Also led off the 4x4 relay. He is not on the the roster yet, but is obviously running.

On Tarmoh, I don't think Tennessee gave her a release. Combine her with the other recruits and the women's team gets even more formidable in the coming years.

How does our mens team stack up vs the rest of the Big 12? Our ladies should win the Big 12 title, what about the guys?

Yeah, ladies should win the Big 12 no problem and are heavy favorites for the National title as well.

Men will probably battle the sips and the raiders. Our guys probably have a slight edge. Luckily the Big 12 championships will be in CS, hopefully giving us another slight advantage. The second tier of the Big 12 is probably Baylor, Nebraska, OU, KSU and Mizzou.

I think the men will have to have exceptional performances to win. Competition too strong. We could even finish third or fourth. It will be close.

Women should win the Big 12 and then must concentrate on the big one - the NCAAs. That will not be easy but we have exceptional runners and jumpers.

Is Tran a sophomore?

I recalculated using the results from the past weekend.

Nebraska jumped 20 points ahead of us. We are in second place about 10 points ahead of tu. OK, MO, Bay, and TT are grouped together about 20 points behind tu.

These are only estimates. It should be a very, very interesting meet. Only about 2 1/2 weeks away.

It looks like the women may be followed by a group of three teams - Neb, TT, & Bay.
