My wife and I just signed our 3 yr old son up for FT Benning 3-4 yr old soccer league. This will be his 1st 'organized' sport. Yes, I know at this age it's just going to consist of kids running around and chasing each other.

We went and got him little shin guards, soccer cleats, and a youth soccer ball. The first day at home he kept running up to me and saying "daddy play soccer bonk with Reagan". Wow, there is no greater joy for a dad than that. I've never played soccer in my life, but he thinks I'm like Pele.

Enjoy the great years ahead of you! I think it's called "bunch ball" and not soccer at this age.

Is it like prison, in that I should go up to the biggest parent there and beat the crap out of them? I mean, someone has to be the alpha parent.

Sounds like your son is motivated. That's about 99% of the battle right there. Have fun playing with him. He'll really appreciate it later.

It's called piranha ball for a reason but enjoy.

I've already got my 15 month old girl in training. Okay, I'm just chasing her around but it's fun.

Beehive soccer is the greatest thing to watch. All 11 players in a bunch around the ball tryint to kick it to the goal.

Little kids are fun. I remember coaching my son's U12-14 & U16 teams to national tournaments in baseball, coaching him as a QB at the CY-Creek Y for five years as we lost only two games out of 36, watching him run track & CC in AAU stuff, watching him play soccer for the Classics in Houston and above all, watching him develop into a fine young man, class of 2011.

I remember watching my daughter be a little obstinate witch. I remember all the tournament games in Louisiana, in metro-Houston, in Plano at the Easton tournaments, in Denver, in Shreveport and in California in OC. As opposed to her high school days at Klein, she is now a very maturing and caring college softball player in Kansas, works hard in the classroom and is making a name for herself at school. I remember almost kicking her out of the house 2-3 times in high school, but now all of those bad times are forgotten. She is a young woman and I am very proud of her.
