The first Big 12 track meet in Aggieland will start Friday. Pre-meet predictions, based only on best performances:

MEN: Nebraska 25+ points ahead of the second place horns. Next, about 10 points back, the Aggies and Sooners with tt only a few points less.

WOMEN: The Ags about 10 - 15 points ahead of tt and Nebraska.

The first Big 12 Track meet at A&M was actually in 1998 when we won. This is the first INDOOR Big 12 Track meet at A&M.

And yes, I'm excited.

I had always heard that this would be A&M’s first time to host a Big 12 Track & Field meet – indoor or outdoor.

A&M hosted, and won, the 2001 Big 12 outdoor meet.

Apparently, I was wrong about A&M not hosting a prior Big 12 Track & Field meet. Should have checked first.

Big 12 Web site - "Heat Sheet to be posted Thursday afternoon."

Wonder when the Start Lists will be posted. Thursday afternoon has come and gone. Start times are less than 12 hours away.

Could someone post the link to the results website? My company's firewall keeps me from getting to aggieathletics.com directly, but usually the links to the sub sites work.

Right now, you have to click on the individual event links on the left side to see results. They've finished the women's pentathlon (Nebraska apparently dominated this) and are on the men's heptathlon currently. Track prelims start at 2:30.

Apparently even students have to pay $8 per day to get in to the Big XII meet.

Has anyone heard how the NCAA's will be?

Are will still in the hunt for the championship tomorrow? The rankings after day one put us in the middle of the pack both men and women.

This meet and the NCAA meet are not A&M meets. Therefore, regarding entrance fees, A&M students are treated just like all other students.

MEN: It looks like Nebraska and tu will score somewhere from 110 to 115. Aggies may be around 90. Baylor and Ok around 70. Very, very crude estimates.

The men are going to have to run and jump real well to pass Nebraska. I think they will definitely finish top 3.

The women will win unless they choke real hard tomorrow.

WOMEN: Tomorrow will be a three-way fight b/t A&M, Neb, and tt. Around 110 points. Next will probably be tu and Bay around 90 points. We have got to do better tomorrow. We’ve got to!

This may end up being an ALL-Nebraska meet. Again, very, very crude estimates.

MEN: Some ups and downs.

Tran Howell and Justin Oliver made the finals in the 60 – a race they had not run all season. Pleasant surprise.

Four made the 60 finals. Howell, Oliver, Gerald Phiri, and Dominique Stafford. Gerald also made the 200 finals.

Last year in the 200, Chris Dykes finished 4th in the Big 12 meet and 4th in the NCAA meet. This year he did not make the Big 12 200 finals.

Justin had the fastest 400 prelim time but will have very stiff competition in the finals

Bryan Miller finished ninth in the 400 and did not make the finals.

Three made the finals in the distance races (600y, 800, 1000, mile): Nick Toohey & Matt Ross (1000) and Kevin Ondrasek (mile). No points in the 5000. 3000 tomorrow. We are not very good in the distances.

De’Lon Isom made the finals in the 60H. Will earn some points.

DMR – second place finish, excellent results. Usually not a great relay for the Ags. Two fish – Oscar Ramirez & Michael Preble along with Toohey and Ondrasek.

Long Jump – only 6 points today – was hoping for more. Neb got 21.

Trinity Otto – although he is usually not as strong in the last day’s events, at the end of today, he was in first place in the Heptathlon. Super efforts on his part. Very unexpected.

Triple Jumpers tomorrow.

WOMEN: Some ups and downs.

As with the men, we have four in the 60 finals: Porscha Lucas, Gabby Mayo, Khrystal Carter, and Allison George.

The 200 was a surprise – five made it to the finals. Lucas, Mayo, Carter, and George along with 400 specialist Jessica Beard. Porscha had the fastest time in both the 60 and 200.

Jessica had the fastest time in the 400. Brittany Machacek also qualified for the finals.

Sandy Wooten was a surprise with the second best prelim time in the 600y.

No finalists in the 800, 1000, or mile. 3000 tomorrow.

Christina Munoz earned points with a 5th place finish in the 5000.

Mayo and Vashti Thomas advanced to the finals of the 60H with first and third place finishes respectively.

DMR – finished 10th.

No points in the high jump or weight throw.

Big surprise in the pole vault – three Ags placed. Laura Asimakis fifth and Alyson Daily & Jennifer Davidson tying for sixth.

Long jump points: Ashika Charan (fourth) and Vashti (seventh).

Triple jumpers tomorrow.

2 questions:

1. What is the DMR? Is it Distance Medley Relay?

2. Where is Shadrack (the distance runner xfer from Corpus)?

Yes, the DMR is the Distance Medley Relay.

Shadrack quit a few weeks ago – why I have not heard.

Where are the updates? This really sucks. Who runs this thing?

Whoever did the Live Stats yesterday must have been fired. Someone from the Big 12 decided that there was no need to keep the public informed by using live updates.

you'd think someone, somehow, someway, could manage to put the results of the conference meet somewhere, sometime, in some manner.

I think the amazing thing from this weekend is that the women's collegiate mile record was broken; shattered really by almost 3 seconds. That record had stood since the late 80's...4/25:89 is the new record I believe. Pretty incredible to have that happen here in College Station.

As much as I hate to admit it, when it comes to getting their sports results posted, the sips are almost instantaneous.

Dylan – you are correct.

The women’s mile had to be the meet’s best race. It involved two super-stars in distance races: Jenny Barringer – Colorado junior & Sally Kipyego – tech senior.
