Yes, I saw the T&FN prediction of Mayo being fifth in the NCAA 60m hurdles when she did not even qualify for the NCAA meet. Thus, we "lost" 4 points from the T/F News prediction. No matter, their predictions are probably much better than anyone else. We still have a fair chance to upend Tennessee, but it won't be easy.

We must win, we have to win this meet - it is on our own turf.

Michigan's Bettie Wade finished 5th in the pentathlon, which was lower than expected - lowers Michigan's chances of winning the meet.

Tennessee (meet favorite) - Sarah Bowman had the best prelim time in the mile. Celriece Law made the finals in the 60H with the fifth best time. TN expected to get around 10-14 points from these two. It doesn't help us that they did so well.

A&M - It does help us that Jessica Beard made the finals in the 400 with the second best time - another sub 53 time for her.

Neither Lynne Layne (Tenn) nor Gabby Mayo (A&M) made the 60 finals. Hurts both teams. Porscha Lucas did so we will get points whereas Tenn will not. Good News!

Lucas(2), George(4), Mayo(6) will all get points in the 200 finals later today.

Tenn will get 0.

WOMEN:
With Lynne Layne of Tennessee not qualifying for the 60 or 200 finals, the Ags were greatly helped.
Tenn has 10 points but has very strong potential in the 800 and mile.
The Ags with 12 points have done well but will have to gain some unexpected points or TN will have to lose some expected points for the Ags to win.

tt has 10 points, Michigan 4, Florida State zero.

MEN:
Excellent performances turned in by Justin Oliver in the 400 and Julian Reid in the long jump. Justin made the finals while Julian finished 4th for 5 points for the Ags. Neither was predicted to earn points.
Both Justin and Julian only finished fifth in the Big 12 meet.

Sat will see:
Gerald Phiri in the 60 finals – he had the fifth best time in prelims – [essentially, he tied for third best]
Justin in the 400 – he had the seventh best time
Julian along with Zuheir Sharif, Melvin Echard, and Tyron Stewart will do the triple jump
In the last race – the 4x400 – the Ags will probably run Tran Howell, Bryan Miller, Kyle Dykhuizen, and Justin

Possible range of points:

Last year, we finished 10th with 17 points. Should finish higher this year.

Love the aggie performances. The world record by the Tennessee distance medley team was absolutely incredible. Sarah Bowman is truly unique. Seeing Galen Rupp is a thrill as well. He has a very, very bright future.

Think about how many Facility Records will be set and how long many of them will last - maybe until the next NCAA meet here. This is a great meet. Apparently, the track is perfect for the participants.

Watch the Sarah Bowman - Sally Kipyego replay (from the Big 12 meet) in the mile. Both sub 4:30 in the Big 12 mile. The Facility Record, Meet Record, and Collegiate Record will probably be broken.

Can Rupp do a double - 5000 & 3000? German Fernandez (Ok State) should have been here. A 3000 race between the two would have been another excited distance run. Maybe next year. Usually distance runs are not so excited. This year is an exception.

Bowman winning the mile hurt us - got max points.

8 more for TN in the 60H. Not good.

TN essentially just won the NC unless the girl from TN DQs in the 800

I assume the triple jump is over and we earned 5 points. That is the only way we could currently have 26 points. If correct, we are out of it.
