So now that indoor season is over, are we better, worse, or about the same at outdoor track and field compared to indoor?

Henry's teams are typically always better outdoors vs indoors all the way back to his LSU days.

We are better outdoors traditionally.
Due to the 2nd relay (4x1)and second hurdle race. Also the javelin and discus outdoors which we usually do pretty well competing.

I feel like we should definitely do better at outdoors. Should be another very exciting season.

I just want to add that next year you count on at least 10 points per year from Wayne Davis. He's already run the 60m Hurdles faster in H.S. than anyone ran over the weekend in College Station.

He will be a great addition but remember the hurdles are 3" taller. That can be a big adjustment for some.

Outdoors should be better.

The DMR is only an indoor event (minus 10 points for TN women).

Outdoor replaces the DMR with the 4x100. The women won the NCAA meet last year and have three returning runners. The men finished second at the NCAA meet and have three returning runners.

Then there is the Javelin that is only outdoors.

The women had 4 of the top 5 Javelin throwers in the Big 12 meet last year – three of those return. The non-Aggie top five finisher graduated. Of the three returning javelin throwers, all made it to the NCAA meet but none placed.

Three returning men throwers were listed in the Top 8 throwers prior to the Big 12 meet. Two of those three earned us points in the Big 12 meet last year.

The Big 12 indoor has two events that are not in the NCAA meet – the 600-yard run and the 1000-meter run. We do not excel in distance races so not having these two events should help us in the Big 12 meet.

do we have a decent shot at winning either the men's or women's NCAA outdoor title?

Women - Very good chance.
Men - Very poor chance.

I believe we will need 50 points to win each. 50 is in reach for the women. I have no idea where we can get that many points in the men's competition.

Men and Women preseason #1. Hopefully we can finish that way.

As of right now, in the guys, we have 3 guys ranked in the top 8, with another 5 in the top 15. Both relays are in the top 2.

In field events, we have 4 guys in the top 8 (3 in triple jump alone) and another in the top 15

So to sum that up, if the best times this year were the final results at NC's, 7 scorers in indivduals, plus 2 relays. I think that'd put us at around 40 points.

Of course, there's still a TON of running left, but the point is that I think our guys are in the hunt.
