Good crowd size (almost 2000) for the under construction venue (my first time to see Aggie soccer this season). The Aggies didn't look quite as sharp as last year (not so many One Touch passes) but it's probably just the earliness in the schedule. The SMU goalkeeper certainly had her hands full especially in the second half on through the double overtime.

Their enthusiasm was good, their speed was good, their tenacity was good. Good moves, and LOTS of sharp freshmen getting some playing time while they spelled the even sharper veterans. Lots of creditable shots on goal.

I wish I could see the upcoming matches with Stanford and UCal-Berkeley (away games this weekend) but the Ags will just have to thump them without me actually being there. Sure would be great if we could listen over the internet! Last year's games against them set the stage for our later successes.

On an aside, do the yell leaders regularly attend soccer games? The crowd (many younger than high school) didn't seem to follow the YLs and often erupted into their own (IMO) distracting chants (not that what the yell leaders did wasn't distracting, too). Horse Laugh got a lot of unwarranted traffic (by the time the YLs got the crowd going on Horse Laugh the climate of the game had often totally changed)...is this to be a pressure vent to cut off the tendency toward Hooliganism?
