We live in Waxahachie and are looking for opportunities for my daughter to work on the high jump over the summer- even if it is just a place that leaves the mat out (I can make the standards & bar). Don't want to spend a lot of money on it but she would love to build on what she accomplished this year. She finished first in district, 3" higher than 2nd place despite this being her first year and only practicing for about a month or so. Most of her summer will be taken-up with her passion, beach volleyball, but if you know of cities in our area (Desoto, Lancaster, Midlothian, Mansfield, etc.) that might provide practice opportunities for high jump, the info would be GREATLY appreciated!

If you want a great private coach, contact John Turek at St. Mark's School of Texas. He coaches the Texas Express team, along with numerous Olympic Athletes, Trials athletes, NCAA athletes, etc. He can get your girl to jump higher, and is a great guy who really cares about his athletes.

Thanks cdonlee. Looks like privates & camps may be my only option but was hoping to find a cheaper 'open track' or recreational summer program. Trying not to spend too much money on it because we spend so much on her volleyball but don't want her to lose what she's attained thus far in the high jump.

AnalogyAg, I started with the track coach. She is unaware of anything in the area. She gave us brochures for camps at A&M, Texas & TCU. She may end-up going to one of the camps but I was hoping for more than 4 days of work this summer.
