I watched FC Koln versus Berlin a couple days ago. The 48,000 seat stadium was the loudest outdoor stadium I have ever experienced.

A few observations:
1) they NEVER stop yelling; and
2) they whistle when a ref makes a bad call or when an opponent makes a dirty play. The whistles altogether are so loud its like putting your ear next to a fire alarm.

I wish our games were that loud.

As a soccer fan, I have to agree that soccer fans are the most intense, best supporting, loudest, craziest, overall best fans over any sport in the world.

I've been to some great soccer games in Europe and South America and it parallels well with the stadium atmosphere in college football. Unfortunately jumbotrons, ribbon boards, having people in charge of "gameday productions," etc., are stepping on that and the stadium experience in some college football venues is on the decline.

whats cool is how they arent just yelling the whole time but the fact that they are singing songs about their teams and its still incredibly loud

the awesome part about that last picture is that the whole south end is FULL, yet the adjoining stands along the sidelines look relatively empty

Rens, they get there early and they stay late.

BVB averages close to 80,000 a game typically. Sometimes, over 80,000.

And just imagine the place if they were good.

I have never been to VfB Stuttgart, but I will attempt it some time while I live here.

I did watch some 2. German American Football League game last weekend, it was amusing.

Here is the Mercedes Benz Arena (formerly Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion), it will be renovated this offseason to remove the track and areas for olympic sports (light athletics) to make room for more seats I guess. VfB won the Bundesliga two years ago and are keeping pressure on the top this season, so I figure they "could" sell more tickets if they had more seats.

I can also see the building my office is in on the pic :p

Oh and this thread needs the picture from the 2006 world cup .. you know the girl with the "sunglasses" with the German flag and the shirt "I <Heart> Football" Im sure yall remember that one.
