Was it as weak as it came across on the webcams? It didn't appear that it was a particularly big crowd and and on several courts it sounded like Ole Miss was the team with the home court advantage. I was kind of shocked.

The crowd was a bit quite. The eternal question, does the level of play dictate if the crowd gets loud and involved, or does the crowd determine the energy in the level of play on the court? Loosing the doubles point hurt the momentum. The win in double on court #1 got everyone going and then less than 5 minutes later the loss on #3 gave the Rebels the double point and the air went out of the baloon. Then the singles matches began and the Aggies fell behind early on 4 of the 6 courts to further take the crowd out of the match.

So the crowd was not as loud as I had expected, but the Rebels had a lot to do with that. They took the crowd out of the match and made it a non factor. Good teams do that on the road.

In the first set, A&M won at line 1,2, and 3. Lost at 5&6. Line 4 was 4-4 or 5-5 at this time. Crowd should have been into it at that point. No excuses.

Your point about doubles - Was everyone just mostly watching line 1? My point is everyone just wants to watch the top line/lines play and ignores the others when each line counts equally in the final score.

I thought the crowd was fine, those that were there. We have lost, however, our big home court advantage. I remember a couple of years ago when we hosted and played Georgia, we had 2,000 or so for the match. Not sure what the number was last night, but doubt it was more than 700 total. Those that were there saw some great college tennis. Congratulations to the Rebels who have a very nice team, with no obvious holes. Conor Pollock continued his incredible run in destroying the number 16 ranked player two and one (as I recall). Great win for Conor. Also nice win at number one doubles. The loss to Texas in the Big XII tournament, really hurt us, as Texas had a much easier match versus Tennessee. I thought going in Texas was the better team, and they did not disappoint. Sadly, Baylor also advanced. On the whole I did not see a clearly dominant team yesterday. Should make for an interesting few days.
