The races were not too surprising. I was impressed with the 100 back times. Old school suits (2004 models) and really fast times.

Phelps scratched on the 50 free final as his prelim time was not what he expected. I think he still has some work to do on the sprints. However he did take 9 months off.

Phelps' 200 free, 100 fly and 100 back were very solid swims. His 50 may not have been as fast as he wanted but no one should expect Phelps to be a contender in the 50 anytime soon.

Phelps' 100 free was solid too - but Bousquet is awesome - and he came off a taper for the French national championships (his 100 free was 47.12).

I think Hoff must be a bit disappointed - she got beat by Dagny Knutson in both the 200 and 400 free.

Lochte was slow.

1. First Meet back in almost 9 months
2. Completely changed his stroke for the sprints

This is very similar to Tiger Woods when he changed his swing. Many people did not understand why because he was the best golfer in the world, but Tiger knew that this would make him better in the long run and it did.

Phelps is trying to do the same thing. He would probably still win with old stroke, but he is planning for the future.

I agree about Hoff she seems to be going through a rough time.

I think Phelps will beat Peirsol in the near future in both the 100 and 200. Phelps will eventually figure out how to sprint (not the 50 free).

I suspect Hoff is still adjusting to the coaching change. She said she has never lifted weights before. So we'll see how she does getting ready for Worlds.

The suits that the French guys were wearing didn't get approved by FINA. I believe they're in the "must be modified" category. Guess that explains the amazing swims. Do you guys think that records in those suits should stand, or not? Asterisked maybe?

If I were the emperor of swimming I would not allow any records swum this year in suits not on the approved list.

But I assume that records set BEFORE the list was published will be allowed.

Blue Seventy has zero approved suits at the moment, which is a surprise and a shame. Other suits are made very similarly to the B70s but were approved. And of course $peedo's LZR was approved.

Most believed the B70 would not pass the 2010 requirements for % permeability so would get modified for next year. But now they have to adjust immediately or none of their suits are acceptable this year and can't be worn in the upcoming World Championships.

Spice,

didn't you get a B70 for your birthday? Are going to get the refund deal?

Did any of you see the B70 model girls at the NCAA's by chance? I had to look out of the corner of my eye as I was with
my 10 yr old

I do have a B70 - since last October. I have used it for two meets.

I will probably take advantage of a buyback - but I want a suit legal for 2010 and beyond.

My 16 yr. old son has one too - and he probably can't use it this summer for LCM swimming.

What about Jaked? Banned? Didn't most of the Auburn guys wear these at NCAAs?

The complete list:

Some Jaked suits are approved but I believe the ones worn recently in competition are not on the list.
