Admittedly, I haven't looked at what tu is losing in baseball next year, but with what we're losing I'm a bit skeptical on that one. I also think we're two seasons away from really giving tu a run for their money in football - not one.

yeah, I think t.u. has a lot of good young pitchers- i'm relying on the "we're due" theory and the belief that our program is still getting better (plus home field, and maybe not having that ***** as an umpire!)

Football- Kyle Field on Thanksgiving night accounts for about 90% of my thinking on that one, plus our very solid performances against them at home no matter how much higher they may be ranked. JJ will be a difference maker this season- with our improved line and great skill players on O, the home crowd should give just enough of a lift to our D to get it done.

We win w/ 11.5

T&F, the women will cruise. On the men's side, Wayne Davis is going to be piling up points in the hurdles, an area where we have been getting practically nothing for a while now. And he will probably be finishing first in each race. He is already running faster in H.S. than anyone in college. I feel our women's golf team is better and the men's side has the #2 recruit in the nation coming in. Soccer should win both matches. We have a great recruiting class that includes the #1 recruit in the nation.

We will lose football and baseball. Basketball will likely be a home and away split like its been for a long time now.

A&M won't win a tennis point unless Texas women's team really sucks next year.

Women's swimming could change in 2010. We regain two of our top swimmers, out last season with injuries. We lose one top performer but incoming could be contributors.

No way we beat tu in football. There is no good reason to be so optimistic about that.

Got the chance to see Heiss and Wilkinson compete this morning...both looked to be in pretty good form

I respectfully disagree.

t.u.'s women's swimming is bringing an ass load of the nation's best recruits.

I think I agree with Holden on the swimming. Both teams will be better than last year, but Texas' girls will be more better. They're probably going to be the early favorite for national champs. They could have a legitimate individual champion contender in almost every event. Have Heiss and Wilkinson swum any meets yet? Just curious to see how they're doing after all of that time off.

I think men's Tennis could win again. Women's tennis isn't losing anyone after this year, and if they progress like they did at the end of the year, they could win. I don't know what t.u.'s recruiting class looks like, but they really weren't very good this year, either.

Indoor T&F I agree that we could win both.

I think we split in softball. I think our soccer team will be far and away better, but that would be one spot where we could give away .5 and nobody would be surprised.

It's depressing that our volleyball team has gotten to a level where there's really no hope of even a split.

Golf is again a spot where there's a chance to give away a point, but I think we could win both.

Our women's tennis team will stay the same (and possibly get worse), texas will be better.

Men's tennis will be a toss up just like this year. They lose Varela but pick up a new bulgarian (and a bunch of texas juniors, but none of them should factor in very heavily). We lose Conor but pick up Klegou and we'll grab at least one more guy before the spring season starts.

A team with 4 freshmen and 3 sophmores, that doesn't lose anyone, will probably improve. You can say that they won't improve relative to t.u, but they will certainly improve. Even if you hate Kleinecke, the girls will work with their home coaches over the summer, and the experience of a season of college tennis can't make them worse. Texas is losing one of their best doubles players, and according to tennisrecruiting.net, neither team is getting anyone notable thus far. Do you know some secret info that makes you so certain?

On the boys' side, it appears that Texas is also getting a blue-chipper and 2 5 star's from in state. All we're getting is a 1-star guy from Tennessee.

we could have said most of those things about different women's teams over the last 5 seasons. also, i don't hate kleinecke, and i've never said i did, thanks.

texas picks up aeriel ellis, top 5 recruit in the country, and they're looking for one more. we pick up...? looks like all eight scholarships are full. is that nazari girl from mexico still coming?

actually, texas is getting two blue chips from in state, and 2 five stars. holiner might play at 5-6 to start out, and is talented enough to play high some day. it'll be interesting to see how he adjusts to the college game. the three other new texas guys shouldn't play a huge role on the team in their first year, if ever, and they don't worry me. kutrovsky's friend is legit and will be a factor in singles and doubles.

he's a walk-on and no one is expecting him to have to come in and play. he's a very good kid though and will be an asset to the team in the long run. oh yeah, and we're also getting klegou, alberto bautista, and like i said, we'll still probably get one more guy before the spring.

p.s. none of this is secret info.

On women's swimming....

Remember that what counts is the dual meet, not the Big12 Championships.

In the dual meets scoring heavily favors wins in each event. Depth (e.g. 6th place and beyond) doesn't factor much. If I remember correctly the scoring is 9-4-3-2-1.

So yes tu has its 2nd outstanding recruiting class in a row. But if Julia Wilkinson and Kristen Heiss are back to form - they could tilt the dual meet back in our favor. Event selection could be a huge factor.

Next season we lose Triin (a huge loss) and Marshall (another big loss), but we still have Alia and some strong sophomores. Our medley relays will be very strong. tu loses their best sprinter (Chang), last year's best breaststroker (Soelter), and their two best divers.

So I don't think tu's victory is assured at all.

You're right about Ellis, I was only searching class of 2009. What's the story on her taking a year off?

I don't think that we have 8 scholarship players. I'm not sure that Ashley is on one, but I haven't heard any more about the Mexican girl.

As long as we keep scoring 4 points in T&F every year we'll never be out of this. Thank you Bill Byrne and Pat Henry.

I wouldn't count softball as a sweep unless we really improve next year.

Also when is volleyball going to get into the win column in this contest.
