Can someone help me w/ a question. I thought I remember yesterday the announcers said Arkansas had finished second each of the last FIVE years in a row. Did I hear that right?

If so, SIX second place finishes in SIX years has gotta be some kind of record.

I'm not really a golf person, so apologies if this is a dumb question, but do you not actually have to putt the ball into the hole? Or did they just not show it on the video.

In match play the person you are playing against is allowed to concede or "give" putts or any shot he wants really.

Normally you would, but in match play the opponent can concede the hole if he thinks the shot is a "gimme" or an obvious make. Obviously Burgoon would tap in the 3 inch shot, so the Arkansas player just let him pick it up.

i'm not a golfer at all, but with a national championship on the line, why don't you make the opposing player make that shot??? a strong gust could push it, a tremor could happen, the player could trip, something something. why not make him make it? i'm sure in the history of golf, someone has missed a 3" shot. this was for a national championship.

It was a classy thing to do.
