By herself. I'm sure a lot of you heard about this last year, and she did it again. I wonder what events she'll do here.

Is she actually on Track Scholarship?

Winning State two years in a row by yourself is a great achievement, but is she expected to actually be on the team?

Her events
Long jump (17-04.50) (5A champ 19-01)
Discus (126-09) (5A champ 147-07)
high jump (5-8) (5A Champ 5-9)
200m (25.78) (5A Champ 23.59)
100m (12.51) (5A Champ 11.50)

It looks like compared to other Texas High School Girls she could compete in High Jump for us, but if I remember correctly we don't have any girls at A&M that High Jump except for the Heptathletes. That is why I was asking.

I'd say if she is only 1 inch off of 5a then a wouldn't be surprised if that's why she is coming to A&M. Keep in mind she goes to a small school where coaching is not going to most likely be comparable to that of those 5a girls. Better technique means able to jump higher most likely.

Everything I've read about her makes it sound like she gets essentially no coaching out where she is. I think this was definitely a "potential" signing for the Ags, as they're excited to see what they can do with her if they get her in the hands of real coaches.

Maybe she will be a heptathlete? I just wonder what the process of a coach is in trying to decide that sort of thing. It's too bad they can't get her onto campus early (aka in summer) so they can get in some work on her and figure out where she's going to be best suited.

Not sure if she is on scholarship, but she's definitely coming here to run track.

I'm aware of the school. The "track" is just caliche, and, although the coach gives it his best, he isn't skilled enough to really develop her potential. She's just a natural. I can't wait to see how she develops with a strength program and good coaching.

That's one of the beauties of a sport like track. A great athlete like her can show that she's a great athlete even when there's crappy competition. Other sports like basketball, people would've written her off just because of not having played against anyone decent, and all of this natural athleticism she obviously has would've been wasted.

I read somewhere that Pat Henry wants to develop her as a heptathlete, or whatever they are called. Apparently she's a strong girl, considering the discus being in the mix, yet she has speed. I look forward to watch her develop. Should be fun.

It wouldn't surprise me if she was on scholarship. It sounds like she is a tremendous athlete who has accomplished a lot while still appearing pretty raw in her training. Definitely could see her being a heptathlete but maybe they'll see that she could really excel at one or two of the things she's done. I like that she wishes she had tried more events, sounds like she'll be open to anything and maybe excel at something she hasn't even tried yet.

Well, most athletes don't do so many events that well, Colorado. She's more than shown her athleticism.

She's got tremendous talent and yes, tremendous potential.

She's an excellent heptathlete in waiting, I think.

1A athletes are usually very versatile out of necessity in their athletic programs. If I have read correctly, I believe A & M's current decathlete, who has qualified for Nationals and ranked 5th, Trinity Otto, came from a 1A Texas school. In reading his bio, he too, did many different events in track with no decathalon experience. I believe Coach Henry and staff will have no problem teaching her all the tools necessary to successful.

Plus, you figure we are giving her some money because smaller schools would definitely give her some so she would probably be going to a smaller school on scholarship if we didn't offer her one.
