This is amazing. Funk played in the Champions Tournament at the Hills of Lakeway in Austin yesterday (Sunday).

And somehow figured out his best chance to qualify for the Open was in Maryland today. Let's not even figure out how he got there with his clubs. Fred Funk does not have his own G3...

Funk used to be the golf coach at Maryland. I'm sure he has played the qualifying course many times. The field he played against was mostly made up of Nationwide Tour players.

Former Ag Andrew Parr also qualified so we'll have a couple Aggies out at Bethpage this year!

Isn't Bronson a Senior? Why is he playing as an amateur? I would think he would play as a professional just in case he made the cut and the money.

It's my understanding that if you enter as an amateur, you are ineligable to receive anything from the purse.

that's what I thought too, maybe they incorrectly have him listed as an amateur. unless he has aspirations of winning some amateur title it would be crazy to pass up the chance for a payday at the open when his college golf is over
