Seems like A&M's women's team is making a habit of landing Canada's elite swimmers...

Having Canada's fastest and most versatile swimmer most likely does wonders for recruiting up there...I look forward to seeing what the new girls will do...

It's great if we can continue to get the top swimmers out of Canada, but we have to be careful to not rely on it too much. The cupboard is pretty bare north of the border after the top few swimmers.

Looks like a great class, and it's interesting about what the article says about the girls with "pre speed-suit speed." I wonder if this is what the coaches were thinking when they recruited the girls. I assume the article is implying that they were simply hurt because they didn't have the same suits as other swimmers at their level? Or somehow the speed suits don't help them as much? I dunno, that whole bit was kinda weird to me.

I just can't imagine how a Candian kid adopts to 90% humidity and 100 degree tempatures except the water must be their only reprieve

You realize we have air conditioners down in TX right?

How does a kid in any sport adapt to Norman Oklahoma or Auburn Alabama or Lubbock?

We have a long history of recruiting Canadian swimmers and divers.

I just want to see a tradition grow of getting some of the fastest kids in Texas.

In any case a nice class by Bultman and Duchac.

We've added some pretty good Texas girls over the years...

And they have heaters up in Alaska, but it still takes a lot of getting used too.

Plenty. Including just about every good to elite football school. So don't even get started, Jeff.

More than in NCAA Division I football...and four of the 6 Big 12 schools that DON'T have it were mediocre to bad in football last year with all that 'extra' money. That the answer you're looking for?

How are Wilkinson and Heiss doing?

A number of Aggies (men and women) swam this weekend in Austin at the Senior Circuit meet. I saw a few heats but not Wilkinson or Heiss.

Based on the meet results it looks like Heiss is in pretty darn good form now. Wilkinson only swam the 50 free and was relatively slow. She scratched 50 back and 200 free and wasn't entered in any other race (that I could find). I hope Wilkinson's shoulder is recovering on schedule.

she was off just a bit ... it is troubling that she didn't swim anything else

I didn't see JW swim....but her 50 time was off more than a little bit. She was in the A final but was 2.5 secs behind Dara Torres and 1.5 secs behind 2nd place. She likely finished more than a body length behind. That's a big gap in a 50.

I don't mean to be critical. She just doesn't have it right now. This swim might be why she scratched the remaining races. It could mean that her shoulder doesn't feel good yet.

She is in good hands with Bultman (etc.). I wish her the very best recovery.

I was talking about her time coming into the meet ... off surgery, rehab, swimming again ... she did pretty good but racing against Dara Torres she fared much like the rest of the field.

The seven that qualified for the finals were 1.33 to 2.66 off Dara.

The seven that finished behind Dara in the final were 0.92 to 2.73 off.

Moravcova was kind of close ...

Wilkinson was 0.63 off her seed time in the prelim and 0.80 in the final.

That's good to see. I see that she swam her 50 free in 26.18, much faster than in Austin.

Glad to see JW is swimming fast.
