Wow. That is entirely untrue and an opinion that is based on no facts. With ticket and vending sales from the track meets that we hosted this year, two of which being the conference and national championships, the team actually made more money than they spent. In any other years prior, you would have been exactly correct. But you are dead wrong this year.
How many other sports at A&M have Olympians or high level professional athletes training at their facilities year round? I will answer that for you...none. This past year there were 3 medalists and 3 others that competed at the Olympics that have chosen College Station as their home while training. This program is doing more for the University and the City than you can imagine. Once we get our new outdoor track facility, which is probably what the original poster was referring to, we will be shooting to host not only NCAA events. Coach Henry is looking for College Station to be the site of the US Championships and Olympic Trials.
