Looks like she just bought herself 5 more years.

Glad to see her get such a big win, but she's still got a long way to go to make up for several rough years.

If she doesn't make the tourament, I think she is gone...as she should be.

Great win, great atmosphere, but hardly makes up for years of mediocrity to flat out suckage.

They're 9-1 and just beat the No. 6 team in the country...short of a complete collapse, that win just got them in.

They'll probably get in and this win will be a significant reason...that's true.

Her team has to close the deal this year and they'll have to do it again next and the year after that, etc... and maybe, just maybe do something for once in the tournament if she wants to be around for five more years and get clear of the years of medicority and suckage.

sometimes a win can change the entire program....been following closely for 5 years...A&M has been on the down side for about that....always giving away close games....we were top 10 to 15 teams in country before tu regrouped under their present coach....maybe we are back finally.

good job Aggies

9-1 and they are in? There is a lot of season left to be saying that

I'm implying that if you start 9-1 and beat a perennial top 10 program with two MNC's in the last decade, the odds are very good that the rest of the season will go well (barring the unlikely collapse I already mentioned). I was not meaning 9 wins and it's a done deal.

I love comments like this. So the 13 years in a row she did make it in don't count for anything? And S16 appearance don't count as "for once" doing something in the tournament?

I love comments like that, too.

If she doesn't make it this year, she'll be graduating a class of seniors who never made the tournament.

As far as "doing something" in the tournament, you'd need to go back to 2004 to find her last win and go back to 2003 to find her last Sweet 16 appearance.

That's what I'm talking about. She shouldn't have a lifetime pass as coach of Texas A&M. It's about time she did something again or it's about time we find another coach.

I hope tonight is a sign of great times to come, I don't want A&M to have to find a new coach...but it's no different than Mark Johnson and the baseball team or a little RC and the football program. Sometimes it's just best for both sides to move on, even if they have a long history together.

Yeah, because THOSE decisions really worked out so well...

Hopefully a good season this year will help out the recruiting for 2011, because the 2010 class doesn't look like its gonna be that special right now, and we have a lot to replace next year.

What a bunch of 2%ers!

Instead of being proud of our team obviously on the upswing, they CHOOSE to be negative.

A great win and a great coach! Congratulations to the team and coaches!

All MJ's replacement has done is win the Big 12 regular season, win the Big 12 tournament, get to a Super regional, get to the tournament three straight times, etc...

I'd say it's worked out, especially considering MJ had two tournament appearances and one super regional to show for his last 6 years as head coach.

As far as RC, obviously Franchione didn't work out, but that's hardly an argument that we should have kept RC. RC wasn't exactly tearing up the Big 12 and I think it was pretty clear RC was losing that battle.

The dropoff was a little over 1 conference wins a year and about 2 wins or so a year when looking at Fran's five years and Slocum's last 5 years.

So does anyone have any experience with top volleyball recruiting? Do they watch volleyball on TV like basketball or football players would? Or is the matches being on TV a relatively new phenomenon that hasn't quite affected recruiting yet?

The good news is that probably every highschool volleyball player on the planet has Nebraska on their shortlist, because it's Nebraska, and so if there was a match they'd be watching, it would've been this one!

Also, considering how few volleyball matches are televised, maybe even 1 win, if the right people are watching it, can make a huge difference in recruiting.

I'm not ready to say that Team Corbelli is back, but I think this is definitely the signature win that shows that we're back on the
road to being a top program.

2 things that make this even more satisfying:

Nebraska also had a lot of freshmen playing, which bodes well for the future of our current freshmen class if we can keep the hot recruiting going.

They won in Reed, which means we haven't lost all of the chaos that used to be in G. Rollie.

BigJim, I was at the game yelling my ass off and was down on the court celebrating with the team. So save the 2% crap for another time.
