hopefully we steal the full point in softball and part of a point in tennis, that would be nice.

No parts of points in tennis, but yeah I agree, hopefully we can steal away men's. If our girls have their best day, and t.u.'s have their worst, there's an outside chance of a W there.

Our softball team seams to be underrated, so pulling off the full point there is a possibility. But it's going to be tough. I do like our chances if it comes down to baseball to break a tie. But....

I think it is safe to say the A&M men will win the indoor track point and you can almost move the women's indoor track point to a sure thing. We would have to choke at conference not to beat them.

I wasn't sure about indoor track. I think last year we were upset, right? Yeah, they probabl should be in the solid left column.

So far, projections on track, and series has tightened. Now stands 'Sips 6.5 Ags 4.5. Congrats to our M and W Indoor Track, and our basketball teams.

And that's WITHOUT getting any credit for women's swimming winning the Big 12 title today (we lost the point in a dual meet in the Fall)

March has no contests between the schools (that count in LSS). April is a BIG month- next up, softball and men's tennis. In fact, in a period of 18 days in April, 6 points will be decided, with only Outdoor T&F remaining in May.

The thing that really hurt us this year was losing both of the points in X-Country. In the past, we've split those points.

Huge period here- 5.5 pts will be awarded in the next 10 days:

M&W Golf
M&W Tennis
1/2 softball
Baseball

Assuming we can hold serve in M&W Track in May, the current score would be Ags 7, Sip 6.5.

That means we need to get 2.5 points from the above sports.

I like our chances!

After how our women have been playing, I'd probably slide W-Tennis back from "SIPS" to "SIPS LEAN", and Men's Golf back to "AGS LEAN".

Should be a great finish to the series!

I'd take it a step further and say that it will come down to needing .5 points from the following:

M&W Tennis
1/2 softball

That's gonna be tough to do, but I wouldn't be surprised either way. We're certainly not out of it at this point, and all you can ask for is an opportunity at the end.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if our women golfers were still a solid favorite over the Horns.

We'll have to get some help like last year from Tennis or softball on the road.

Women's Tennis - Tuesday
Men's Tennis - Wednesday
Softball - Wednesday
M&W Golf Championships - Weekend

Should be an eventful (forgive the pun) week.

We win it or lose it this evening. These 1.5 points will decide who takes the whole thing in the end.

And unfortunately, I think the OP was right on the money, but the horns handled us in baseball, so we're looking at a 10-9 loss.

oh well....

Not sour grapes, but just an observation and a wish:

Women's swimming: We lost a dual meet with the 'sips, but we won Big 12 conf meet.

In sports where you don't really play "games" that mean anything towards a conference crown, we should go by the conference tournament.

I think swimming is the only sport in the LSS where that is done.

The schools agreed to do it that way since they compete against each other separately and not just in a conference tournament/meet. This wasn't IMG's doing.

The rule is that any time we don't directly compete head to head during the season, you use the results from the conference meet/tournament.

Since the contest is about head to head matchups anyway, the rule is more than fair. It just didn't go our way this time.

Unfortunately, we would have most likely kept the trophy if we could have closed out that basketball game in Austin. I can't remember another team losing a basketball game in which they never trailed in regulation.

I never said it wasnt fair, or agreed to, or objective.

I only wished it was different. This is the only sport in the LSS that has a "meaningless" matchup as a point.

Sometimes these dual meets don't even have your "real" or "full" team competing. Also, the dynamics are completely different (based on the reduced number of competitors qualifying for scoring and the strength of other teams).

I would rather that the point be based on the same metrics that every other sport is- that is, the outcome of a matchup that goes toward the determination of your conference standing.

Sometimes this would work in our favor, sometimes not, but it least it would be the same "type" of standard as we have in the other 17 sports.

And I never said that you did. My posts stand on their own unless I quote someone.

I think the scoring system for the LSS is fine. I'd actually prefer nothing but head-to-head matchups and no conference tournament results, but it's not a big deal and not worth a change at this point.

Well, they leave track as the Conference championship, even though now in indoor we have a dual-meet matchup for indoors.

Definitely agree, though, that if the teams are putting all of their effort towards Big 12's, counting a dual meet the first few weeks of the season seems a little odd. There's no reason that there needs to be a standard across all sports, tweak the rule for each sport.
