Howdy all -

We're pulling for a big crowd on Friday night for our seniors, but if you can't make it to the Rec please do tune in to aggieathletics.com to watch the live webcast.

To follow up on what I posted yesterday, we will not have the classic live results available anywhere, but we are working closely with collegeswimming.com to get as close as we can. I'll post some additional details tomorrow well before we get started.

And in case anyone missed the memo, we are indeed on Twitter @aggieswimdive & Facebook. We post some interesting stuff on the FB page so I encourage you to check it out. Search for Texas A&M Swimming and Diving and it should come right up. Otherwise just follow this link (I hope): http://bit.ly/cn8Eo7

So bring your friends and family to the TAMU Rec Center on Friday at 6 pm and we'll do our best to BTHO tu!

I think I am most looking forward to the races between Enriquez and Wilcox.

The relays could be closer than some think. Ags swam 2:59 in the 400 free relay against SMU while tu swam 2:57 against Arizona. tu swam 3:15 against Arizona while we swam 3:19 against SMU.

I don't know what Balasz is swimming but it would be cool if he pops a good 200 free against Berens or Walters.

Horns are a bit down in breaststroke this year as Spann is still rebuilding after his injury year and isn't even their fastest guy.

tu will kill us in diving unless their divers are still at Nationals.

I'm looking for some good swims from the Ags!

Looks like live video is already up. Audio sounds better. Just music right now, though.

The video is much better. I like the "medium" size video best. The feed doesn't have the pixels for full screen. But the medium size looks very good.

Great swim by Strange in the 200 MR! Erased a big deficit to Berens.

I think it is hilarious that the announcer keeps saying, these are exhibition swimmers and they have NO outcome on the meet. What goes through the Texas guys heads?? haha
Sucks that they can't REALLY compete for Texas

Didn't see the band or big splash! What gives???

Oh well, at least we got to see some good swimming to make up for it. Good meet guys.

Thanks for your support everyone! We had a really good time tonight & lots of impressive swims to point to. Strange, Makany, Dalton & Enriquez definitely deserve a pat on the back.

For those of you interested, I would like to say that this is one of the most responsive & positive groups we've had in a while. They gel really well and responded exuberantly to multiple blows from the t-sips. It’s great to have a resilient team that I know will be able to take on the emotional rollercoaster that is Conference and then move right along to NCAA's. Very excited about the next couple of weeks!

Gig 'Em!

Blue- the word is that the football players backed out at the last minute & I'm still unsure about the band.

Went to the meet tonight. Great environment from start to finish. The outcome of every single race was in question heading into the final length with the exception of the mile (in which the A&M swimmer broke a decade-plus old school record). The final score was NOT indicative of how close this meet was. Erase the DQ and have a couple of the touchouts go the other way and the Aggies would have won this meet against the #1 team in the country. Beating the Texas men was doable for the first time in god knows how long, number of Olympians on their team be damned. For this, our coaches and swimmers should be commended for their efforts.

I'm told the fb players showed up but bailed for some reason. The band didn't make it that far, failing to even show up (I wonder if they'll do the same when the athletic dept. pays their way to support the basketball teams in the post-season tourneys). I admit I don't know the whole story, but if they committed to being there and bailed it's inexcusable. End of story.

Despite these failures, and the absence of what would have been another 40 spectators in the women's team and staff that competed in Houston tonight, there was still an excellent crowd (600 plus at least) that stayed for the duration and seemed to really enjoy itself. Kudos to those who did their part in pulling that solid of a crowd in the stands as well as to the Yell Leaders who led the crowd in a memorable War Hymn to start the meet.

If swimming was sold half as well as most of A&M's other sports, the stands would have been full. For all the complaints about cost at A&M athletic events, this was free and was one hell of an entertaining time for those that went.

Great job by the Ags. The scoring is very 1st-heavy in these dual meets so the gap wasn't as big as the score.

AgDawson - the video was a huge improvement. If was like before I couldn't have watched. But it was good enough I truly enjoyed it.

I was impressed by Enriquez, Strange on the relay, Nell (I hadn't seen him before), Dalton, and Balasz.

Just as a swimming fan I enjoyed Balasz in lane 8, then Walters' great 2nd half to catch him. Fiegen's start on the 50 is so good he is 1/4 body ahead when he surfaces. And it was kinda funny to see Taylor Hill swim so well underwater but not nearly so well on top. Amini and Strange had great legs in the 200MR. It was great to see Dalton go 1:39 in the 200.

Great effort by the Ags!

Whoop, Gig 'em! Although, Texas being without Drew Livingston made the score a wee bit closer than it could've been.

It was great to see some fast 50 freestyles from the young guys (Fonua, Wilson, and Smith all went 20.'s. We're losing quite a few of our fast sprinters, and it looks like the freshmen are developing well to step in. Great to see Dalton, a freshman, step up and close out a tight relay with a 19.83 against the no. 1 team in the nation.

Lavery is coming on strong, too. Cut .3 off of his season best in the 100br, and had the Aggies' best split in the relay (although it appears Snowden's time got messed up.)

Great meet guyz, the Ags are looking strong heading into conference!

I can't believe that the football players actually showed up, and backed out. I know JJ did it a few years ago. Agdawson, give us the inside scoop! Where's Ben Bittner when you need him...

I think it goes without saying that the reason the athletic department doesn't promote swimming nearly as much as its other sports, is swimming is a free event. If swimming made any money at all, I'm sure BB would throw some promotional money its way.

Seems like that would be a problem that could be easily rectified...If we charge for things like track and tennis, then we should charge for swimming too...
