Just for track and field. We have the number 1 womens and mens and won the national championship next year. I think they deserve more than an "other" category. Just a thought.

No, they don't. There isn't enough traffic on the other sports forum to support another forum. Whether or not x sport has a forum has nothing to do with how good or successful a team is, but how much traffic it generates on texags. The other sports forum works just fine how it is.

Why can't each sport have an individual forum even if it doesn't get much traffic?

Because you have to click on each tab to see only a couple of posts there. Less people will do it. Track and field will get less traffic with its own forum.

For example, I practically never click on women's basketball forum, but when the occasional women's basketball thread was posted on the basketball forum, I would sometimes read it. The same goes for baseball. I don't click on the baseball forum during the off season for baseball, but if the occasional baseball thread popped up on other sports during the off season, I would probably check it out.

Honestly, if you really want to promote our track and field team, you want it to stay on the other sports forum. The big reason to give track and field its own forum is when there are so many posts that people interested in sports other than track and field can't find their topics because they get pushed out too quickly.

By that same logic we should put track and field into the football forum so we can get more views. I think we need to generate interest by showing that it is a major sport that is able to have its own forum.

Really? Without it's own forum on texags, it can't be a good program? False. What the above poster said is exactly correct. The reason why sports like Women's basketball got it's own forum is that there are so many flame/repeat posts on the men's board that nobody could read a women's bball post before it was pushed off of the front page.

The other sports forum is great, because there's a group of us who have a lot of interest in all of the lesser sports, but would prefer that all of the threads stay on one page for easy reference. For example, I get that there's a need for a forum for people who want to discuss their favorite golf courses and all, but I wish threads about the golf team would stay in other sports.

Combine football with track and just about the only reason anything about track stays on the first page is because of the ensuing "who gives a damn?!?!?!" pissing match that will inevitably develop.

Track is good where it is. There is an excellent balance here that gets track exposure while keeping it from becoming irrelevant/a running joke (pun possibly intended ).
