I thought the track and how everything is set up is pretty live. I bet every athlete competing would appreciate some more up tempo music even if it's just something instrumental. Maybe a little hip hop or just anything to get'em going. Basketball games do it now.

I heard that Pat Henry promised the "old ags" that contributed $$ to build the indoor track facility that they would like the music played during the meets. I have no idea if this is true or not.

FWIW, this "old ag" agrees with you. The music is awful for the most part. It should be more about pleasing the athletes, not the fans. I've heard we take football recruits to these track meets as well. I'm sure they aren't impressed with hearing "I Get Around" by the Beach Boys over and over.

I like the music but you are correct - the music needs to be for the participants.

The music played seems to be mostly related to some aspect of the track meet such as the song you mentioned, "I Get Around."

the music's not THAT bad... it used to be worse. the first meet or two they just played the same music that they play in the weight room which was definitely worse.

In basketball they don't play that hip hop while the game is being played, in track there is almost always an event going on so be happy we get any music at all.
