quote:
A number of players, including 18-year-old superstar Marie-Philip Poulin, were drinking alcohol on the ice following the team's 2-0 defeat of the United States. (The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19.) Players lingered for more than 70 minutes after the awards ceremony reveling in the arena, which was empty except for media and arena staff. (Click here to view a slideshow of the celebration.)

In an event where steroids and judge bribing is commonplace, I think the IOC has more important things to worry about.

I don't really have a problem with this, but an American team would have gotten thrashed had they done the same thing.

No problem with the lingering celebration. But I definitely understand why the IOC would have a huge problem with underage drinking on the ice.

And I hate the "don't they have more to worry about" excuse. The IOC is a big organization, they can worry about more than 2 things at a time.

The IOC canned baseball and softball and are now threatening women's hockey. If a sport is popular only in the America's or one of the more western asian countries, it is pretty much toast. The only reason for the existence of the IOC is so that all the deposed European royals have something to do now that people don't let them run countries anymore.

I say if it makes the IOC mad, then I am in favor of it.

They're really not commonplace, but even if they were, the IOC has time to worry about all of it. They don't need to pick and choose.

I wish all parties had that girl to guy ratio. Although being an international Tennis star probably helps to get chicks to the party.
