Who wins based on your scoring so far? Where are the Ags?

without diving, Stanford seeded to win, texas 2nd, then i think cal/florida/auburn after that, with Michigan 6th and Zona 7th. Ags were 13th i think. Seeded to score more swimming points than we did last year. Add in diving and the battle for 8th-10th is gonna be ridiculous, between like 6 teams.

Official psych sheet is up

Texas A&M
Bergstrom, Jason
Dalton, John
Denisyako, Nikita
Fonua, Amini
Lavery, Nathan
Loncaric, Boris
Makany, Balazs
Strange, Casey
Wagner, William
9 swimmers, and most likely one diver after this weekend. 10 man squad, I'd say thats pretty dern good.

Snowden and Omar got the short straw. Snowden was 2 spots out in 100breast (less than a tenth of a second out), and Omar was also 2 spots out (less than 2 tenths out). That being said, they did take more "rows", both relay and individual, this year than they have in the past. All Aggie relays were invited to the meet, which hasnt happened in a while, so that is nice to see.

Full scoring is up. Ags are tied for 14th in scoring, but I think they'll almost definitely move up, especially if you add diving. Doesn't look like anybody is going to be able to beat Texas, groan. Forgive me Aggie gods, for I have sinned, but I had to do it.

Balazs has a shot at scoring in two individual events. What's the most individual scorers we've had at NCAA's? We have a shot at quite a few this year.

Also, Tyler Clary is absolutely nuts. I think he might be the least talked about elite swimmer in the country this year.

And what did Josh Schneider do between last offseason and now?? He went from 20-30 range to one of the best sprinters in the nation. If the NCAA gave an award for surprise swimmer of the year, I think he'd have to be the front-runner.

Stanford, the only team within grasping distance, will get a boost with the return of David Boudia, who missed the Pac-10 Championships with a shoulder injury. Assuming that he is healthy, Boudia is all but guaranteed to win the platform, barring an epic collaps
I dont know how Stanford is going to get a boost from the stud diver from Purdue...except for the him knocking down texas diver Livingston...Not so sure about the shoulder injury either, but he missed Pac-10s because he dove at the Big Tens the week before...

Dammit! I meant Dumais. I had a really long day yesterday, can you tell? Thanks for fact-checking me!

And about Balazs, I saw Boris at 12th and somehow attributed it to Balazs. Again, late night brain fart.

he was 19.1 last year at his conference meet and 6th going into ncaas. anyone who has seen him swim would not call this any sort of surprise.

Right, and he finished 15th at NCAA's. This year he's gotten faster, even without the suits. Also, look at how much he's improved his other strokes. He now goes a 46.44 in his 100 fly too. Last year, he was 44th in the fly, and 36th in the 100.

dude my point was that he was 6th going in. not that big of a difference. who's to say he won't get 15th again?

any 'surprise' award would go to the kentucky sprinters or someone from ohio state.

When was the last time the Ags got their 800 free relay to NCAAs?

Although I agree tu looks like the favorite - who knows what surprises are ahead? tu could even go better than seeded. For example Dave Walters got in the 200 free with a 1:37. He clearly blew off his race at Big12s. He is capable of a 1:32 low.

Then again Eddie's boys could underperform like they did in 2007.

Pac10 teams often don't swim particularly well at NCAAs because they rest so much for conference.

I think the 50 free will be Adrian and Feigen 1-2. Feigen had an easier conference meet than any of the top 5-10.

It would be fun as hell if the Ags crack the top 10.

"Pac10 teams often don't swim particularly well at NCAAs because they rest so much for conference."

I slightly disagree.

Arizona always shows up at NCs. I predict Cal will too. ASU is a battered and broken program that has to rest at conference.

2001 i believe. the team of Devin Howard, Patrick Kennedy, Alfred Mansour, David Morrow scored consol points at NCs that year. I know the 2004 team (previous school record) missed making the meet by a few hundredths. Not sure if we have the juice to make the big boy heat this year, but a high consol finish (9-12?) would be huge.

They pieced together an 800 relay at the meet a few times after 2001 (pre-Holmes/Boyd) but not with much success. This relay has come a LONG way in the last 2-3 years.

I agree that Arizona is going to show up big. I picked them to finish 4th. Based on how fast they were swimming all season (including beating Texas) there's no way that their Pac-10 performance was indicative of their best swimming.

We may have had some 800 free relays sneak into NCAA's before, but this seems like the first legit version in a while, if that makes sense. AKA we have 200 freestylers swimming the race, and good ones at that, and they're good enough to make noise in the event, not just kinda get through it and hope for the best.

Grant wins zones in the 3-meter. Not a huge surprise, but a good sign headed into NCAA's!

once again, we need to make the distinction between 'invited to the meet' and 'competed in the meet'. the aggie men have not been invited in the 800 free relay in 30 years, if then.

we always get our 'b' cut so any four guys CAN swim the relay at NCAAs so it makes sense strategically.

much like the celebrated NIT birth for the men's bball team a few years back, this was a huge step in the development of the mid-d program.

wow! didnt realize that. guess I just assumed that since we scored at the meet in '01 we were invited. A very stupid assumption looking back at it haha.

aggies are one of 8 teams to have all 5 relays invited to the meet. Arizona, Auburn, Cal, Florida, Michigan, Stanford, Texas, and Texas A&M.
