NCAA Meet starts today. Although both the Men's and Women's competition should be close, the Aggies are not favored for either title.

In the Men's competition, Florida and Oregon are expected to fight it out for first place with the Aggies in third. All three should earn 40+ points.

In the Women's competition, Oregon is slightly favored over the Ags. Both teams should obtain at least 40 points.

As usual, the team that wins either competition will be the team that has the most players who perform as well as expected or better than expected. At the Big 12 meet, our men did not do as well as expected. The champions will probably hit the 50-point level. Thus, we need to shoot for 50 points in both competitions.

MEN (estimated points in parenthesis):
60m - FL (10), A&M (1)
200m - FL (11), A&M (6)
400m - FL (10), A&M (8)
800m - OR (16)
Mile - OR (13)
4x400 - A&M (10), FL (6)
DMR - OR (10)
TJ - FL (10), A&M (15) [we rank 2nd, 4th, & 5th NATIONALLY but earned only 13 pts at Big 12 meet]
SP - FL (1)

The sprints are the areas where the men may gain more points than expected; hopefully many more points than expected. Seventeen points in the Men's triple jump is a big stretch but possible. Hopefully, by Friday evening, we will have earned as many points as Florida and Oregon. Expect around 10 pts from each.

WOMEN (estimated points in parenthesis):
60m - A&M (2), OR (1)
200m - A&M (13)
400m - A&M (10), OR (3)
Mile - OR (7)
5000m - OR (8)
60mH - A&M (14)
4x400 - A&M (8), OR (6)
DMR - OR (10)
PV - OR (1)
LJ - OR (6)

After Friday's events, we need to be within 8 points of Oregon. Hopefully, they will not reach 20 points Friday.

Are the Ags weaker this year or did the other guys improve significantly?

Neither-Indoor vs. outdoor.

It's impressive how the Oregon women have really branched out into other areas besides distance, unlike their men. If they can continue to do it with the same limited number of scholarships, they're going to be hard to beat in the future. Would love to see the Ags counter with grabbing some top distance runners.

I think if I was ever way in fast enough to do track, I'd do the heptathalon. I love the fact that you can improve your score in so many different ways.

Looks like Ashton Eaton of Oregon is on his way to winning the Heptathlon and 10 points for Oregon Men.

Eaton is an animal! He'll be tough in '12
Trinity Otto will be back in the multi's for outdoor saeson. Wish the men's team would stress the hep/dec more. In the past they have had some good ones, but recently they have moved away from this event and thus are developing fewer multi's guys.

Anyone know if frosh hurdler Wayne Davis will be back for outdoor? He was one who had he been healthy could have scored a some points this weekend.

Bad news for the MEN. Kemal Mesic of Florida had the 8th best throw in the shot put but today did much better than expected and finished 2nd to give Florida 8 points instead of the expected one point.

Natasha Ruddock & Gabby Mayo qualified for the 60mH finals.

Demetrius Pinder & Tabarie Henry qualified for the 400m finals. Unfortunately, Bryan Miller did not.
Torrin Lawrence (Georgia), Calvin Smith (Florida), & Kirani James (Alabama) will be tough be beat. We have to have a lot of points from this event.

Jessica Beard qualified easily in her 400m event.

More bad news for the men. UF long jumper finishes 2nd. They were not expected to score any points and get 8 more.

Bad news for the women. Porscha Lucas does not make the finals in the 200. She was expected to finish 2nd. Going to lose big points there.

She has been fighting a bad back. Hopefully it gets better by outdoor nationals.

MEN:
Florida is about to wrap this title up. Christian Taylor (Florida) ranked 13th finished second for a pickup of 8 unexpected points for Florida. Florida has two runners in the 60m, 200m, & 400m finals.

Nicole Blood from Oregon falls in the 5000 and does not score. She was expected to finish 2nd, that is 8 points they lose. She also runs on their DMR that was favored to win.

This may offset Lucas not making the 200 finals.

Curtis Mitchell from A&M wins the 200 for the men. 10 points when they were only expecting 6. UF was expected to get 11 points and only get 4.

Amber Purvis from Oregon finishes 4th. She was not expected to score and gets 5 points.
