200 free relay is in finals, seeded 6th.

The streaming is good. The live results are terrible because you can't scroll to all the results.

Heiss with a strong 4:39 prelims swim. Gingrich way off with a 4:46. McLaine in the water now.

McLaine with a solid 4:42. Very good swim for someone who surely tapered for Big12s.

The entire finals heat of the 500 is under 4:40. Very tight field between 4:38-4:39.

Man, I'm pumped to see the 500 final (how often does that happen?) That's going to be an incredible race.

BigPapa - why do you think she didn't taper for Big12s?

I do not know of course. Just speculating.

Except for JW and Hain our girls didn't have good 200 IM swims. All of them added time. I wonder if they held back if they weren't in a reasonable scoring position? Alia went in 19th - so she had a chance to move up but instead swam a 2:00 for 35th.

I figured out the live results scrolling problem. You have to use the bottom horizontal bar to scroll right - to access another vertical scroll bar to see all the results.

Hain and wilkinson had good IMs. First time under 2:00 for Hain. Mclaine was a little off of B final in the 5. She must have been too nervous. I can't get the 50 results. Any news?

Any help on the 50 free???

On diving, Janie not doing great. Nasty Nastia, Kelciy Bryant, and is dominating the field. Jaele appears to be solidly in third, and should have no problem finaling.

At least one diver is diving in what looks to be an FS II. Interesting!

There was a swim-off in the 50 between Webb and Vanderpool-Wallave of Virginia. Could explain the delay in live results.

Spice, not sure where Papa got his info from, but I also heard that Maureen did not taper (at least fully) for conference. was her in season mile time fast enough to get her to the meet already? and since they knew the 800 would make the meet and get her there, that would be a godo enough reason to stick her in the primarily NC taper group (Wilkinson, Heiss, Atkinson, Hain, Sommer, Woods, etc). Not 100% sure on that, mostly just speculating.

Maria went 22.5 in the 50, and Woods was a little behind her (22.6 i think?) but I dont think either finaled. they were in early heats and the last couple heats were all pretty quick. Maria led off the 200FrR with a 22.4 so she added a tad from that.

wow just saw the 400medley results. Chernoff 51.9 fly leg, outsplit Hersey. Thats a heck of a morning swim for us, and in a good position to do some damage tonight.

That makes 2 tu relays and a 500 swim that have seriously underperformed so far. Its funny how most everyone (on collegeswimming.com mostly) kept blabbering how texas was going to stomp our girls cuz we rested our studs for conference and they didnt, yet so far it seems the opposite is true. Hersey had a good IM, and Sogar dropped a little, but other than that they dont seem to be swimming great. Granted, I know its just prelims day one, so there is a lot of swimming left, but for both of their relays to get snubbed from top 8 and add that much from conference is a pretty big deal for a team that had the kind of expectations texas did/does

I know there was at least one writer at theswimmerscircle who didn't expect Texas to do well. Guy must be a genius.

Bispo didn't final in the 50. Finished 22nd. Other than Hersey's 2IM, a pretty crappy day for t.u.

I just assumed on McLaine that as a freshman, without an A cut and not at all certain to make it - that she would taper for Big12s.

I agree though tu was unimpressive. Hersey's IM was very good. But otherwise tu's girls swam poorly. Gingrich, Bispo, etc. did not swim well. Jim Henry's boasting on Swimmingworld Magazine looks like just overconfidence.

Does Alia have another gear for tonight? Her split in the 400 medley relay was slow. At least four girls had faster splits including a 58.84 by Jillian Tyler of Minn.
really?
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I was just told by a swim dad that something was up with the time clock in the Aggie lane - Alia's time was incorrect (too slow to kick in) and therefore Kendra's posted time was faster than she actually was...didn't hear it from a swimmer, but I guess it might explain why Alia looks like she needs another gear, and Kendra swam faster than Hersey...tonight should be great either way.

Hmmm....that makes some sense actually. There were several apparent timing system problems - like JW's split on the 200 free relay. Several relay legs didn't report response time ("NRT" ).

Ags 5th. Julia's IM was excellent (2nd). But the girls were a bit slower than in the morning in the 400 medley for 4th.

Nice job overall ladies!

VERY nice evening for the ladies. Looks like they are gonna be in a heck of a battle for a top 5 spot.

i smell a comeback for the texas women, the hype for them was just too big for them to have such a disappointment. oh well, maybe next year...again.

Hey db,

I heard the Texas women didn't shave or taper because they are looking forward to next year's NCAAs. Brackin gets solid recruits but can't seem to develop them as well as top programs.
dbcooper

but texas is a top program! i sense the apocalypse if they arent in the top 5! if not this year then definitely next year. how many years can they keep that up before someone loses their job?

Exciting time right now! ladies are swimming FABULOUS! We haven't even seen the best yet, we still have Mclaine's mile, Atkinson's 1 & 2 breast, WIlkinson's 100 and 200 free, Heiss's 200 free and back...
we have so much left I cannot wait to see what they do!
Texas is not performing outside what is expected by anyone who paid attention to them at all this year. They cannot rest as much as they did and hope to swim well at the end...I will be surprised if they bring it back strongly..but we still have lots to come for them as well, they will bring a strong fight if they perform how they NEED to.

Feel like this is the MO with a lot of the coaches at Texas. They sure have built themselves a heck of a brand up in Austin. Saw a little girl begging her mom for a Texas swimming shirt the other day (although the mom was decked out in maroon). The mom tells me that the girl dreams of swimming at Texas. I informed girl of how the Ags had won 3 out of the last 4 Big 12 Champs, and told her about all of the Olympians A&M had, etc. She stopped asking for the shirt.

Ags pick up 30 points versus the psych sheet (which includes Jaele's 16 diving points). Arizona is the big mover, picking up 65! Stanford and Georgia come back to the field.

Morning not going so well for the Ags. Every Ag except Hain has added time vs. seed so far (through 100 fly).

Hersey does NOT make the A final in the 100 fly.

JW and Heiss will need to fly to make the A final in the 200 free.
SpicewoodAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Great swim by JW (what else is new?) in the 200 - 4th. Heiss 13th with a solid 1:45.

Bispo doesn't final at all. Doesn't bode well for Texas' 800 free relay.

UGA puts 3 girls in the 200 free A final. Huge points opportunity for them.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Aggie Girls are doing well.
They've got it in them to make top 5.

Texas women on the other hand....well they trail the leading Stanford by 104.5 points and Georgia (who they beat and didn't hold back in boasting about in a dual meet earlier this season) by 94 points. I guess that's the price you pay for resting your girls up for every single dual meet of the year. There's only so much juice you can squeeze out of an orange and those girls are burnt and sun dried oranges right now.
