Just a remender that the mens tennis team takes on UTA at noon at the Mitchell Tennis Center, followed by a match at 6pm with the always pesky Rice Owls. I think we will see some of our younger players in the opening match. Rice has had some nice wins of late and have beaten us the last two years. Should be a lot of excitment. Hopefully we will get some solid support. Join if you can.

Favorite moment of Rice tennis: Last year, when Wil is playing the big German dude, I think Tobias Scheil was his name. My friends and I were sitting right behind his court in the second row. His coach keeps shouting encouraging things to him. And he just goes off on him. "What the f*** does that mean, keep your head up." and "I'm going to keep going." At one point, he even looked up at us and said "If he says that to me one more time, I'm going to f***ing punch him in the face."

I remember that match! I talked to one of the rice players that was up there, and asked him what the guys deal was. Said he was a headcase and hated the coach. Classic! Thanks for reminding me of that match

Aggies win six to one against UTA. The Rice match was much more dicey, especially after we lost the doubles point. Ended up winning four to three, but it was a tough match. Jeff won easily at two, Alberto won in s straight sets at five, and from there it was tough sledding. Alexis finallly won in straight sets at three and Griggy clinched the match at four in a second set tie breaker. Nialls lost in three sets at six, and Austin lost in a third set tiebreaker at one. The doubles point loss made it a litle closer than it should have been, but at the end of the day it falls in the w category for the Aggies.

Raven, are they switching up the court numbers now? I could have sworn that Griggy was playing on court 2, but you have him listed at 3...are we doing 1,2,3 on the right side, 4,5,6 on the left now?

Yeah, 1-3 on 1, 3, and 5, 4-6 on 2, 4, and 6.

Last night the court assignments on the live scoring were messed up, as the Rice players were listed straight down the lineup as usual, while the Aggie men are split with top and bottom on separate sides.

Coach Denton switched the courts so he can focus on #1, #2 and #3 singles at the same time. Austin and jeff are doing well at #1 and #2. We need more consistancy on the other courts.

Griggy and Alberto have been money at 4 and 5, respectively. 6 has really been the only question mark this season. With Niall, Lewis, Lunt, and Hoover all gunning for that spot, it's just a matter of time until one guy sets himself apart from the rest. Or maybe that spot will stay fluid depending on the matchups at that line with each individual team. It's crunch time now; aside from UTSA there are no "easy" matches the rest of the way.
