So, on our website, we just started adding poll questions. The first one my partner came up with is who do you think will win the men's 50 free in 2011. I know there's always some good opinions on this site, so I thought I'd get you guys' opinions.

I agree Adrian is most likely. I think he'll come back after this year's disappointment to win next year as a senior. Feigen will be 2nd.

On a slightly more objective note....

Nathan Adrian swam a 22.11 LCM 50 free last weekend.

Jimmie Feigen swam a 22.85 last weekend.

Troskot's fastest time this year is 23.49.

Oh - and Nathan Adrian swam a 22.01 in Paris in June. 5th fastest time in the world right now.

I'm excited about Troskot, but I just don't believe he is in their league - YET.

US Nationals are coming up - so we'll see what some of the big boys do.

I think Jensen Ried will win the 1650...with his bionic arm tied behind his back! Hows that for a bold prediction!

For anyone who's interested in the poll results, Feigen had 38% of the votes, Adrian had 45%, Josh Daniels had about 10%, Adam Brown had about 3%, and there was 1 "Other" vote. Not surprisingly, the "Other" vote came from a .tamu IP address, so I assume it was a BigPapa vote for Kyle Troskott. ;-)

Anyone know what kind of LCM times Feigen was going after his senior year of HS? Troskott's 22.93 is pretty blazin'.

I'd expect some even bigger drops once he gets into the famed A&M dryland program. From pictures I've seen, he appears to have a lot of room to fill out his frame still.

I looked up times in USA swimming....

Feigen swam a 22.86 at Olympic Trials, and 23.00, 23.14 at LC Nats in 2008 - after he graduated from high school.

He swam 50.34 in 100 free at Trials.

Last summer he swam 21.77 (!) - after his freshmen year at tu.

KT is definitely in his range.

Yeah, not many guys can win 50 free titles as freshmen, but it's exciting to know that he's running around the same numbers as Feigen did at this stage of the game.

It's more about timing than anything...it would take a WHOLE lot for KT to overtake Feigen and Adrian as a freshman...but A-finalist? Definite possibility.

K has soooo many little things to work on (not to mention the physical conditioning) that it is conceivable for him to surprise a lot of people from the outside lane!

I stand by what I said before....the pressure is on the coaching staff to work with K's abilities to make him into a contender.

care to elaborate? i agree with you. however, I have never seen him swim so I do not know what he could work on.
