It is nice to read a lead in - from the Eugene paper that starts:

"Two of the national powers in track and field, Oregon and Texas A&M will lock horns . . . at Hayward Field in Eugene."

"Powerful Aggies," "national power" all in same article about a meet at Hayward Field. Being recognized by Oregon papers as a track rival to Oregon.

Wow. I'm pleased and impressed.

It is incredible what Pat Henry and his coaching staff have been able to do since coming to A&M. The men's team was already a top 25 team, but now they are the #1 overall team (mens and womens) in the country.

With our track recruiting, I would imagine that we will stay at the top for quite a while.

The most impressive thing I've seen about Henry is that we competed and won a National Championship without the top recruiting classes in the nation. For the women I think this is our third straight year for a number one class (meaning only 2 classes helped contribute to our first T&F NC) and our men just had their first number one overall recruiting class and yet won a NC last spring. Just imagine when these stars that are scoring us points as freshmen and sophomores because juniors and seniors. Henry and his staff are as good as you can find in world. There is a reason why he is the olympic sprint and relay coach.
