I thought the most impressive swim was Phelps second in the 100 back. What happended to Peirsol?

Wouldn't Thoman's first place swim be more impressive than Phelps' second place swim?

I think the most impressive swim, although not a surprise at all, was Soni in the 200 breast. She just flat out dominated the field and swam the best time in the world this year by over a second. Not sure what her taper status was for the meet, but that bodes really well for her at Pan Pac's this summer and World's next year.

In case anyone's interested in reading about some of the more interesting story lines from the meet. Always a heck of a show put on by the folks in Charlotte.

You are correct about thoman. One of my training partners also pointed that out to me but he's an Arizona ex so he's jaded. I should have said Phelps best swim.

Soni is the best female breaststroker in the world. So I am not surprised she dominated. She is consistently fast. I love watching her race.

My old Masters coach is good friends with Peirsol. He says Peirsol regularly slacks off on training. But he has to race some of these meets because he is sponsored. He just isn't always in peak condition.

Phelps shouldn't be expected to win 100 back. Most of the time - Grevers, Peirsol, and others should beat him at that distance.
