Just wanted to make it known that we won a first place medal at our first regatta. Beat UT, Rice, NSU, and SMU by a longshot. in the Mixed novice 8 race. The other races we faired ok in, but no medals.

I might be interested in looking into it. Let me know where I can find the details.

Congratulations!

My daughter is new on your team this year and I know she was very excited about the results last weekend.

Keep up the great work!

Just finalized the ol' budget...3115 bucks. Hmm..not quite there yet.

Any ideas as to a good fundraiser? Or some potential sources of funding?

I'd like to be able to get a new boat...and some new oars. The boat doesn't even have to be brand new, just something in the late 90s or so. (We are using our 25 yr old boats now..)..

Oars, ~270 a piece...need 12. about $3000.

Boat, varies. anywhere from 5k on up to 15k. (depends on yr, model and make..) Thats for a coxed 4.

Plus, we still need a launch (flatbottom aluminum boat and motor). I've been looking at the papers and not seeing much lately. New would be...2200 dollar range. Used..500-900

Rowingaggie,

I live in the Northern Virginia area where we have lots of high school and college teams -- I was on the board of the West Springfield High School Rowing Club for four years and still have a fair number of contacts with the rowing clubs around here. I can try to get a run down on used items for sale if you want -- almost always clubs are looking to sell items.

One of our main rowing sites here is in a Virginia state park that is forcing everyone to switch from single stroke (requires oil in the gas) motors to dual stroke. So even though they aren't selling the launches, a lot of clubs may be selling the old motors cheaply.

We may be too far away to make it worthwhile -- hard to get large items like these transported.

You can get my email from Casey if you’re interested.

We have raised and saved enough money to expand our fleet. We will be getting 2 new (to us) boats this week, a pair/double and a 4+. We are also getting a new set of hatchet oars.

We are slowly expanding, but we still need your support!

We are holding another garage sale this (proably april) year. If you have any items you would like to donate, please contact me! gregmwood@hotmail.com

There'd be more interest in your team if you were to run a "trot" line from the back.

We did it again. At the Heart of Texas Regatta in Austin, we won 2 silver place medals out of 3 entered events. A&M Rowing is a force to contend with, watch out Texas...

I wish y'all had that team when I was there. My co-workers at the Rec thought it was weird that I always was on the rowing machine for more than an hour (I know it is different in the water, but it is the most similar movement inside the gym). I like the sport, but I've never had the opportunity to participate.

Not being smart assed, like where do y'all work out, and where is the home course? I mean the Brazos R. don't cut it, ya' know?
