I know we’re all so proud of the men and women on the track and field teams that just won back to back NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Awesome job Aggies! So I wanted to know how we stacked up with other programs in the state of Texas and here is what I found:

Women’s Indoor Champions
t.u. – 6 titles

Women’s Outdoor Champions
t.u. – 4 titles
A&M – 2 titles

Men’s Indoor Champions
UTEP – 7 titles
SMU – 1 title

Men’s Outdoor Champions
UTEP – 6 titles
SMU, A&M – 2 titles each

I was surprised that Baylor hadn’t won any titles since I’ve always heard great things about their Track program. I was surprised at the amount of success UTEP has had. Good for them. Coach Henry is doing an amazing job at A&M.

I know you did not mention X-country but I will -- we do not place much emphasis on it - it is considered a minor sport here.

Indoor T&F is a much more important sport. We do not do our best in this area but it gets up started towards Outdoor T&F. Outdoor T&F is a major, major sport at Aggieland. We do very well in it and will continue to do so in the future. With so many returning point-getters, next year should be incredible.

What is the difference between Indoor and Outdoor T/F? Why is Indoor more important?

You must be kidding! Rationale? Or did you just mean more important than X-Country. That I would agree with.
